Dancing With The Stars viewers received a nasty shock at the end of Music Video Night. Social media influencer Lele Pons had been wildly popular with fans since the beginning. Sadly, she and her partner Brandon Armstrong left the competition on Tuesday night.

Major upsets like this one are always disappointing. But what exactly did guest judge Paula Abdul have to say about the elimination? Keep reading to see what she had to say after the episode concluded.

Paula Abdul felt saddened to see Lele Pons leave

DWTS has featured many guest judges this season. Naturally, it made sense for singer and choreographer Paula Abdul to join the judges’ panel for the evening.

“First of all, it’s wonderful being back in the ballroom,” Paula told ET, adding that she felt like she was back in her element.

Many Dancing With The Stars fans expected Harry Jowsey or Barry Williams to exit the competition on Tuesday night. Across the country, jaws hit the floor when it was announced that Lele Pons was on the chopping block instead.

On Music Video Night, Lele and her professional dance partner Brandon Armstrong performed a Salsa to “Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira. Although many fans thought it was a great performance, the judges felt largely underwhelmed. They gave Lele and Brandon a 33/40.

But even so, it was a much higher score than some of the other dancers. Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold only scored a 24/40 for their Jazz routine to “It’s Gonna Be Me” by NSYNC.

Overall, Paula Abdul had kind words for Lele and Brandon and didn’t seem to think they deserved to go home.

“I thought Lele did well too, it’s sad to see her go. But you never know,” she told ET.

From the beginning, Lele Pons proved she had a lot of drive and passion. Many feel disappointed that she won’t continue in the competition moving forward.

The top seven prepare for next Tuesday night

The shocking elimination on Tuesday proved that it’s anybody’s competition. There are plenty of frontrunners, but the remaining contestants largely depend on fans’ votes to keep them in the ballroom.

As Paula Abdul put it, nobody can really predict what will happen next. It’s too late for Lele, but viewers still have a chance to keep their other favorites in the competition.

Were you disappointed that Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong left Dancing With The Stars? Who do you think should have gone home instead? Be sure to share your own thoughts and opinions in the comments.
