As new episodes of Welcome to Plathville Season 5 continue to roll out on TLC, fans have one pretty big question: Will Kim Plath’s DUI be addressed? Or, does production plan to gloss over the arrest completely?
Timeline Of Kim Plath’s DUI Arrest Explained
It was on June 10, 2022, that TLC star Kim Plath rolled her Chevy Suburban into a ditch while allegedly under the influence. The Welcome to Plathville star consented to a blood test that confirmed her blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit in the state of Florida.
So, she was officially charged with a DUI. On September 8, a warrant for her arrest was issued. With the help of her attorney, Kim Plath tried to get the warrant dismissed. The motion, however, was shot down.

It was not until October 20th of last year that Kim Plath surrendered. After surrendering, her arrest made headlines. After entering a plea of nolo-contendere, Kim Plath was found guilty on February 28th of this year. Per Starcasm, the details of her sentencing included the following:
Driver’s license suspended for 6 months
Ignition interlock device for 6 months
Subject to random chemical testing any time day or night at the discretion of probation
No alcohol, unprescribed medications, or illegal drugs
Must complete SA evaluation within 30 days and follow all the recommendations of the evaluator
Complete DUI school
9 months of county probation
50 hours of community service

Will Welcome To Plathville Season 5 Address It?
The Season 5 Premiere of TLC’s Welcome to Plathville featured Ethan and Olivia Plath enjoying their European vacation. Digging into their social media posts, fans know the trip took place from June to August of last year.
If the rest of Ethan’s family also started filming around August of last year, Kim Plath had already rolled her vehicle into a ditch a month prior. It, however, didn’t make headlines until October when she turned herself in. So, it is possible the family simply didn’t know about it when they started filming Season 5.
By episodes 8 and 9, however, it is a bit harder to believe Kim Plath’s family still didn’t know of her DUI arrest. In Episode 8, fans watch as the various family members prepare for Christmas. Moreover, as fans know, Olivia and Ethan didn’t make the move to Minnesota until November. So, there segments in Episode 8 couldn’t have been filmed until AFTER Kim’s arrest made headlines.
Unfortunately, the timeline of the TLC series has passed both Kim’s initial accident and her DUI arrest. So, it does appear as if the network has decided to sweep it under the rug.
