Kim Plath’s DUI
In June 2022, Kim’s car was found upside down in a ditch in Florida. Her vehicle was the only one involved in this accident, and she went to the hospital with minor injuries. She was charged with DUI, property damage, and personal injury.
In October, after a warrant was issued for her arrest, she turned herself in. She was only behind bars for a short time before being released the same day.
This news was especially shocking to Welcome to Plathville viewers because Kim made it clear that she didn’t think it was wise to consume alcohol. However, after splitting from her husband Barry, it sounds like she made several major life changes.

InTouch Weekly reported that, according to online records, the TLC star’s case was closed on Feb. 28, 2023. The fine listed is $963, which she has asked for an extension to pay. She also has to complete 50 hours of community service and is on probation for the next nine months.
On Reddit, Welcome to Plathville fans are reacting to this news. One Reddit user did some additional digging to see exactly what Kim Plath’s DUI consequences entail. They wrote:
“50 hours of Community Service, court mandated substance abuse evaluation and complete any treatment/education program recommended by evaluator at her own expense, DUI School Level I (whatever that may entail), license suspension for six months, Interlock for six months, all at the expense of the Defendant.”
Some Welcome to Plathville fans feel that this is a “slap on the wrist,” but others think that the public humiliation is more than enough to teach Kim a lesson.
