Sister Wives fans discovered that Meri Brown alleged that Kody Brown wanted her to lie by omission. That came when she claimed he refused to announce that their marriage was over. At the time, he claimed he feared backlash from TLC fans. But is that the real reason? Did they both lie so they could keep earning from TLC?

Sister Wives Fans See Kody Brown Tell Meri It’s Over

Season 18 is the first time either TLC star spoke what might be the truth about their failed relationship. As far as he’s concerned, it was all over about seven years ago. That fits in with the catfishing incident that TLC made a meal of. In fact, they revisited it again a few years later. However, fans believed that it all went in the trash before that. After all, Meri didn’t find and fall in love with “Samuel Cooper” in a day.

Sister Wives star Meri thinks that it was more like ten years ago, which is close to the time when Kody asked her to divorce him for Robyn’s children. The marriage was over a long time before Season 18 revealed Kody telling Meri he’s done with her. Every fan knew it, and they seemed puzzled because Meri couldn’t seem to read the memo about the exit door. But now, fans think she and Kody strung out the story to get payment from TLC.

Sister Wives Stars Kody & Meri Lied About Possible Reconciliation?

On Reddit, an OP felt that both of them lied. After all, TLC played out scenes of Meri Brown obviously holding out and waiting for her estranged husband to reconcile. They revealed that time after time, the couple went for counseling. But in fact, the marriage deal was more than likely deader than a fossilized doornail after the catfishing event.

The opinion about the Sister Wives stars seems realistic. It said, “I think the whole thing with Meri is a big lie.” They explained, “After Meri’s catfishing came out… [she] and Kody were 100% done.” So, they felt that there was really “nothing for her to do on the show… except a divorce.” Notably, that would have been the end: “The asset division and then nothing, no family, no show.”

Under Pressure?

Possibly Meri stayed on Sister Wives because TLC needed the storyline of possible reconcialiation. The post continued with a suggestion that Kody made a deal with her to keep filming. For example, “Meri, you stay and play your part for TLC and we’ll ride out the TLC payments.” The alternative would have meant that Meri could “take her chances in court.” Maybe she decided to ride with a lie to prevent Kody from “getting everything” while she might end up with just a bit of “alimony.”

What do you think of the theory about Kody Brown and Meri playing out a lie for an income from TLC? Do you agree that if all she had to do was film occasionally, but live her own life, it was worth it to her? Could that be why Robyn Brown seems to treat the former first wife with disdain in Season 18? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, and keep coming back for more Sister Wives updates.
