During this week, Wheel Of Fortune spruces up the stage for a Halloween Week celebration. Within the makeover, the scene is complete with cobwebs, spiders, a surrounding graveyard, on-theme puzzles, and prizes to match. Likewise, Vanna White, 66, plays along and dresses in black for the spirit of the holiday. However, Pat Sajak doesn’t seem to understand the fascination and has a strange exchange with the contestants.

Pat Sajak’s Stance On Halloween Week

Although the stage is set for the Halloween Week festivities, it isn’t on Pat Sajak’s account. Admittedly, Pat doesn’t wear costumes. On the October 23 Wheel Of Fortune episode, he talks about how in 1982 an edict was sent out saying everyone was required to wear a Halloween costume for the show. Pointedly, he discusses that he doesn’t do costumes and he doesn’t do edicts. In response, he jokes his “costume” profile from then on consists of bankers, realtors, and anything that allows him to wear his suit as usual. But, he highlights his plan works for him since he is still the host.

Even so, Pat Sajak is perplexed by this week’s contestants and their true love of Halloween. During the October 24 show, he was quick to point out that the contestants this week on Wheel of Fortune are a very “strange group.” During the introductions, Pat seemed very surprised by their intense liking of Halloween.

Pat Sajak Is Baffled

One contestant specifically gave Pat Sajak a bit of a stun. When introducing Nicki Weeks from Beaufort, Georgia, the longtime host scrambles to understand her Halloween preferences. Originally, Nicki, reveals to the audience and Pat that she is very into the holiday. Easing into it, she tells about her marriage of 12 years and how proud she is to be the mom to four-year-old little girl, Charli.

Then as Pat Sajak continues the truth comes out, “Now you seem like a lovely, sweet, caring woman, and yet you like gory and grotesque stuff?” Nicki excitedly says, “Oh my gosh, yes. The more gore, the better.” Seemingly surprised, despite the game show focus on Halloween, Pat replies, “Really?”

Scary Obsession With Halloween

She continues with serious enthusiasm, “Yes, all of the blood and the guts.” Baffled, Pat Sajak takes a moment to regroup while blankly staring at the cue card. In turn, the audience laughs at his response. As he continues, he moves to the subject of her skeleton. Pat says, “Who’s Steven the Skeleton?” After that, the audience learns “Steven” is part of the family, at least since July.

Given that she loves the holiday, she says, “I start Halloween shopping in July, he already has a Lakers jersey and everything; he just hangs out.” In return, Pat Sajak laughs and just acknowledges, “Okay.” Segwaying, Pat then wraps up and says, “We have a very strange group up here.”

While Nicki did not let the comment bother her, she was fast to clap back. Quickly responding, “Thank you!” She is proud to enjoy the season. At that point, Pat Sajak apologized for the comment. He says he is sorry before moving on. Seemingly, he is off guard by her speedy answer. He says, “I mean that in the best sense of the word.”

Afterward, Nicki went on to win an impressive $22,910.
