‘1923’ Season 2 News Will Frustrate Fans Of ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel
Fans of the Yellowstone prequel 1923 are waiting for news on when Season 2 will premiere. However, the latest news may continue to frustrate the fans of this Taylor Sheridan-created series about the Duttons.
What is the news that will frustrate fans?
What Is The Latest News On Season 2 Of Yellowstone Prequel 1923?
The biggest series on television now are based on the Duttons, first introduced on Paramount’s hit series Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner. One of those spinoffs is 1923, which stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Season 1 was a huge hit. Now, fans are waiting for news on the second season.
Unfortunately, that news is not great. According to NBC Montana, the spinoff is “delayed indefinitely.” The WGA (Writer’s Guild Of America) strike is still unresolved. Moreover, there is a likely Screen Actors Guild strike that could commence at the end of June.
Originally, the series was supposed to start filming on June 5.
But, the unasked question is whether or not there are scripts for 1923. Productions with finished scripts are currently filming.
However, there has not been any sort of information about a finished script. When the series ended in February, Brandon Sklenar told TV Line that he didn’t know what would happen in Season 2 because the script was “still being written.”
Butte-Silver Bow Reserved By Paramount Series
Before the WGA strike, the Paramount series reserved the Butte-Silver Bow Civic Center through 2023. However, as the Yellowstone series cannot start filming, they have extended this contract into 2024. Moreover, that cost is $75,000 a month.
Although Paramount has recently laid off a large percentage of North America-based employees, they don’t seem to balk at excessive Yellowstone-related expenditures. Just recently, it was reported that the network paid for half of Taylor Sheridan’s $350 million Texas ranch. Moreover, Sheridan charges them to use the ranch for filming, as well as for his infamous cowboy camp.
Therefore, $75k a month may not concern them.
Which Yellowstone Spinoff Are They Currently Filming?
Currently, Paramount is filming one Yellowstone spinoff. That spinoff is Lawmen: Bass Reeves, a spinoff of 1883. Dennis Quaid has shared on Instagram a short video from the set.

As for the OG, the final six episodes should have aired this summer. However, after some issues with Kevin Costner’s availability, they are scheduled to start filming Yellowstone in late summer.
However, if the WGA strike lingers, and there is an actor’s strike, the final episodes will continue to be delayed. One thing is for sure, fans are bound to be frustrated that they need to wait for something to happen.
