GAF Celebrates Five Years Of Great American Christmas, Announces Mario Lopez Movie
Great American Family is getting ready for Five Years Of Great American Christmas. With this, the network has announced its first Christmas movie starring Mario Lopez. Here are the first details of what promises to be another collection of festive holiday movies.

GAF Announces Five Years Of Great American Christmas
This week, GAF announced its first 2025 Christmas movie to celebrate Five Years of Great American Christmas. According to The Futon Critic, “The franchise’s popularity is rooted in timeless values, faith, joy, and hope.” To celebrate this huge milestone, Great American Family has announced the holiday movie, A Christmas Spark, starring Mario Lopez and Ali Cobrin. Mario joined the network in 2024 and starred in A Christmas Spark. Of course, fans know Ali from The Baxters.
Bill Abbott celebrated this milestone. “The 5th Anniversary of Great American Christmas is a major milestone for our company and our audience. What began as an alternative new holiday tradition has become a beloved cornerstone for viewers who want uplifting stories rooted in faith and family and marks a truly special milestone.”
Unlike Hallmark, who has announced 40 2025 Christmas movies, Great American Family has not shared how many movies they will premiere in 2025. What has already been revealed is that Candace Cameron Bure will be in two Christmas movies this Great American Christmas. One is a sequel to Home Sweet Christmas, also starring Cameron Mathison. The other appears to be a time-travel Christmas movie that is rumored to also star Paul Greene. This would reunite the Christmas Detour costars. The second movie should be announced in the near future.
However, GAF did reveal that Mario Lopez is starring in A Christmas Spark.

Mario Lopez On A Christmas Spark
Mario Lopez and Ali Cobrin star in the Great American Christmas movie A Christmas Spark. This movie is about a middle-aged litigator who makes a huge pivot. He leaves his “lucrative career to become a firefighter with other cadets half his age.” This sounds like a holiday-themed, Rookie-inspired movie! Mario not only stars in this movie, but he is also a producer. This is a passion project that shows his appreciation for firefighters, especially after the historic Los Angeles fires.
The movie is extra special to me because of my admiration for firefighters who worked night and day to save lives and property during the recent fires in Los Angeles. Each time I wore the firefighter uniform it was a personal tribute to the brave men and women who worked tirelessly to save our city. Their courage, selflessness, and resilience embody true heroism, and this project is dedicated to them–true heroes.
The premiere date for A Christmas Spark will be announced in the early fall.
When Will GAF Kick Off Great American Christmas?
GAF will kick off the 5th Anniversary of Great American Christmas in October. The exact date is forthcoming. In addition, Pure Flix will start streaming holiday movies starting in November. Moreover, the network will soon announce more titles in its holiday programming soon, as all the networks start ramping up production for the holiday season.
