The finale episode for Attack On Titan just got a brand new update.
Attack On Titan continues to work its way towards its exciting series finale. Updates have been slow as of late, but fans are expecting some new things soon. The English dub for the most recent 1-hour episode still isn’t out. There’s also still no announcement from Crunchyroll or Toonami on when that may be coming. A recent episode from the director of the show’s final season is also leading many to believe that there might not be any more major AoT visual updates before the final episode comes to air. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other updates to look forward to, though. And one just came via the show’s sound director.
A Sound Start
The sound director for Attack On Titan is Masafumi Mima. He has a massive career in the anime industry working on other major shows and movies. His resume extends from Perfect Blue to My Hero Academia to nearly every Pokemon anime project there ever was. Mima recently put an update on his Twitter about the upcoming finale for Attack On Titan.

The two Japanese words of the tweet simply state, “Finally. Beginning…”
That means sound engineering work for the last episode of one of the best anime of the 21st century is officially underway. This puts the episode a little more than midway through production. It means a good deal of the primary animation and voice recording is close to done which allows Mima and his team to begin arranging and mixing the sounds together towards what fans will hear in the finale episode.
It’s a fairly exciting update for diehard fans wondering what stage of production the finale is currently in. What it means as far as a release date still isn’t particularly clear, although it may give a much better idea than what anyone had before. The Attack On Titan director’s previous comments made it seem as though the finale may not arrive until late fall. But this sound update may mean it could arrive earlier.
Controversial Attack On Titan Ending
A question on the minds of many is how exactly the show will end. There is a canon ending any curious fan can refer to in the manga. That ending is extremely controversial among the manga-reading fanbase, however. That leads many to believe that it’s possible MAPPA be changing the anime’s ending to try and maintain the show’s positive legacy. Both MAPPA and creator Hajime Isayama have been very quiet about how the ending will actually be handled.
The series finale for Attack On Titan will be premiering sometime in the fall of this year.
