‘American Idol’ Fans Rip Judges For ‘Wasted’ Saves This Season
Most of the singers on American Idol are sent through by fan votes. However, the judges have their own saves and fans felt they wasted them this season. This was especially obvious when both the singers the judges saved ended up going home almost immediately.
Here is who the judges saved and how it didn’t work out well for the contestants.
American Idol judges ‘wasted’ their saves
The reason the American idol judges have their saves is that they might see something in the singers that the fans don’t. It is always clear that fan voting is often slanted toward fan favorites. This is regardless of who the better performers were on any given night. A person could deliver the best performance of the night and end up eliminated because they were up against a fan favorite.
However, it seems most fans were against the two saves that the judges used late in the season. The fans voted on 10 people to go into the Top 12, and the judges got to save two of the singers that would have gone home as a result to round out the lineup. The judges chose to save Nutsa Buzaladze and Lucy Love. Fans hated the picks, and many said the judges chose the two worst people to move on in the competition.
While the judges felt they made good picks, the fans at home responded with their votes. After Sunday night’s episode, Ryan Seacrest came out and revealed that, after the judges saved them last week, both Nutsa and Lucy were the bottom vote-getters and both were going home.
Fans rip American Idol judges
With that said, the judges and the American Idol Instagram account didn’t back down. With their elimination, the show posted, “All the LOVE! It’s a fond farewell to powerhouse vocalists @nutsabuza + @iamlucylove.”
The fans were rubbing it in, though, after the eliminations. One wrote in the comments, “I can’t help but wonder who would have really made the top 12 if based only on America’s votes. clearly was not these two. tonight was a great show.”
Another commented, “Finally Nutsa is out! And Lucy’s attitude walking off stage smh! The judges wasted votes on saving them in the first place!” A third wrote, “Wow loved this, showing the truth we all voted last week for. Thank you America for showing these judges their saves weren’t worth it.”
This has been a tough season for the American Idol judges. It has only been a few weeks since the audience loudly booed Katy Perry after she shared her harsh feelings about one of Nutsa’s performances. Now, a few weeks later, fans were hating Perry for helping Nutsa move on to the Top 12.

The American people got it right. Lucy did not show Love, in fact she showed the opposite! Lionel was wrong saving her
in the 1st place. She tried reversing her nasty image by posting a statement but the damage was done & America sent her packing for the final time. When she did not get picked she demonstrated more nastiness!
Nutsa: America did not like that she was from another Country. I actually read the rules & it stated they had to be from America. Tyson, from Canada did not get saved & he was very good! Makes me wonder if the judges finally read the rules! Not pleased with the Judges! Too much praise when not deserved!
