At the very beginning of the year, Paramount released a video revealing that Yellowstone Season 5 would be back this summer. This video announcement was right after the final episode of Part 1 entitled, “A Knife And No Coin.”
This was big news. Before this, the network had not revealed when the remainder of the supersized season would air. The clip revealed, “Yellowstone Season 5 returns this summer with all new episodes.” Although this felt like a long time, fans were happy that the show would soon return.
Now that May is right around the corner, how soon will fans of the series get to see the rest of Season 5? Unfortunately, the news coming from the set does not align with the probability that the series will return this summer. This is because they have not begun filming yet.

Why Will Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 Premiere Be Delayed?
Well, it doesn’t sound like the series will be back this summer. Unfortunately, it is because they have yet to film the remaining episodes. According to Showbiz 411, the cast and crew are still waiting for news from Taylor Sheridan. They want to know when they are returning to the set and filming the remaining six episodes.
The sources that spoke to the publication revealed that they will start filming those episodes “sometime” in the fall. That source also claims that Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton will be killed off, just like Succession star Brian Cox’s character, Logan Roy.
However, these episodes have still not been written. The source claims that Sheridan and his team are in Texas working out the remaining six episodes. Now, they are running into the probable writer’s strike that could further delay Yellowstone. Therefore, even without a writer’s strike, it seems unlikely that the OG series will return before the end of 2023.

What do we know about the remainder of Yellowstone Season 5? Although Taylor Sheridan has not yet written a script there are already rumors from sources that believer Kevin Costner will be gone. Therefore, fans want to know whether John Dutton will die, and what will happen between Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie (Wes Bentley). Will Jamie kill Beth? Or, could there be a mistake as Reddit posters theorize? Finally, will Jamie kill Summer (Piper Perabo)?
