Matthew McConaughey Starring In New Yellowstone Spinoff
Recently, Matthew McConaughey’s name has been thrown around as a replacement for Kevin Costner, in the midst of some off-screen Yellowstone disagreements. Late last week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Texas-born star is now confirmed as a star in an upcoming Taylor Sheridan spinoff series.
Chris McCarthy, President and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks confirmed that McConaughey will be part of a Yellowstone spinoff that is “one of 10” Taylor Sheridan projects.
McCarthy also revealed that Matthew McConaughey will be there whether Costner stays on the OG series or not.
But, we don’t know a lot about this series. But, there are rumors that Yellowstone will end with Season 5. Could the McConaughey project continue where the OG left off? We don’t have that answer, but it seems that this is likely the direction that they are going if they are going to use some of the main cast in McConaughey’s upcoming project.
What Does Executive Say About Kevin Costner Staying With The OG Series?
Speaking of Kevin Costner, what does Paramount’s Chris McCarthy have to say about Kevin Costner staying on Yellowstone? Recently, there has been a lot of information leaking from the chaotic set. That is because the Field Of Dreams star has a limited schedule, and they still have six more Season 5 episodes to film.
The rumors were flying fast and free that Costner was leaving, with McConaughey coming in for a spinoff that would include a lot of the main cast. That was the first mention of the True Detective star joining Taylor Sheridan’s growing universe.
Since then, there has been a lot of news of strife between Costner and Sheridan. Costner thinks Sheridan has too many projects, delaying Yellowstone filming. Paramount is frustrated that Costner is only available for a week.
This is something that Costner’s lawyer denies. But, Costner has a lot of projects of his own, including documentaries and a western.
Moreover, it does not sound like anything has been resolved in two full months. But, when asked about Costner, McCarthy diplomatically shared that the hit Paramount series “wouldn’t be what it is today without Kevin and we hope that that stays for a long time to come.”

Yellowstone Drama Frustrating Fans
The Yellowstone drama has now spilled into fan events. On Saturday, Costner, Sheridan, and other stars of the series were set to be part of the PaleyFest panel. Instead, the entire announced panel was a no-show.
Fans paid close to 300 dollars for tickets, driving hours to arrive at the venue only to find out that the stars they wanted to see did not bother to attend. This includes showrunner Taylor Sheridan.
Now, fans are stuck in the crossfire, waiting for their favorites to get along enough to complete this series.
