Hallmark Canceled ‘Kitten Bowl’ Last Year, But Stars Now Stepped Up
Last year, Hallmark shocked pet lovers by canceling their annual Kitten Bowl event benefitting pet rescue. This was the annual Super Bowl weekend event that helped shelters around the country. Despite the record amount of pets being left at crowded shelters, their social media hrevealed that the feel-good network had no plans for any “animal-centric” programming.
Although Great American Family will air their first annual Great American Rescue Bowl on February 12, Hallmark will not be hosting any sort of event of their own.
However, Hallmark stars are stepping up and doing what they can to help pet rescue groups.
Hallmark’s Will Kemp Supports Pet Rescue Project Street Dog
Christmas Waltz star Will Kemp has long supported the pet rescue group Project Street Dog. He has used Cameo as one way to donate to the organization.
However, this year, according to a post on Twitter, Kemp is offering something very special to his fans who donate to the organization.
Two fans who donate to the organization will win a personalized Cameo video from the Jolly Good Christmas star! There is no minimum amount. But, be aware that the final day is February 15.
Hey #Kempers & #WillKempFans Who would like to win a personalized video from @IamWillKemp? Here’s your chance! #WillKemp #Cameo

In addition, according to Twitter, Jewels for Hope will donate 10 percent of any sales of Will Kemp’s bracelets. That is double fun for Kempers to support the love of four-legged angels.
This February let’s celebrate the love of giving and support the four legged angels at @projectstdog. ❤️🐾 @IamWillKemp has been their biggest supporter and with this Valentine’s Day Campaign @jewelsforhopect would like to help too. https://t.co/ufxsmrekTG pic.twitter.com/XSSUFIiKpP

Erin Krakow & Ben Rosenbaum Have Their Own Pet Rescue Story
Just a few weeks ago, Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum revealed that they had their own pet rescue story. The Hallmark stars adopted Willoughby, a decidedly Austenesque name.
They got Willoughby from Tobies Small Dog Rescue. Moreover, they thanked Good Witch star Catherine Bell for introducing them to this rescue. Bell adopted the adorable Indy from the organization just before the When Calls The Heart stars adopted their beloved Willoughby.
They also thanked Home & Family alum Larissa Wohl, who continues to be a pet rescue advocate.
Hallmark’s Andie MacDowell Adopts Small Rescue Dog
It is not clear if Tobias Small Dog Rescue has a Hallmark star hotline, but the word is certainly out. That is because The Way Home Star Andie MacDowell also recently had her own pet rescue.
The Groundhog Day star adopted Bev from the pet rescue group. This small-sized pet is easy for an actress who has to travel to sets all over the country and in Canada.
Katrina Law Reminds Fans Not To Forget Kittens!
Although Katrina Law is currently starring in NCIS, she is still a Hallmark fan-favorite, with Snow Bride at the top of many holiday lists.
She recently signed a pile of photos of her with cats for the Kitt Crusaders charity. According to her Instagram post, “All proceeds go to getting animals the medical attention they need and finding them forever homes.”
In addition to Katrina Law, Hallmark’s Emmanuelle Vaugier also has signed charity photos to help this rescue.
While this is just a recent handful of organizations that Hallmark stars have helped, there are many more who are pet rescue advocates. Be sure to adopt, don’t shop.
Hopefully, Hallmark will return to some animal-centric programming during this pet rescue crisis.
