How ‘NCIS,’ Guest Star, Turned into Hallmark ‘Snow Bride’ Reunion
What does a Hallmark Christmas movie-NCIS mashup look like? This holiday season, Hallmark has already seen a Wonder Years reunion and a Back To The Future reunion. Thus, usually, the series comes out before the Hallmark movie. This time, it is different.
However, while this seems to be one of the most unlikely scenarios ever, it just happened on Monday night. This is an NCIS episode that reunites two stars in one of the most iconic Christmas movies ever.
How one guest star was shocked to discover she was guest starring with her former Snow Bride co-star. Snow Bride is not just your average Hallmark Christmas movie. It is in the upper echelons of the very best Christmas movies ever made. Snow Bride is a classic.
So, what happened on NCIS?
Patricia Richardson Guest Starred On NCIS Monday Night
On Monday night, Home Improvement’s Patricia Richardson was a guest star on NCIS, in the episode entitled “Docked.” She played McGee’s mother-in-law, Judy Price Fielding. She was on a cruise ship and she finds a body in the sauna.
Yes, she was smack dab amid the case. Some unfortunate truths came up. One of those things that neither Delilah nor nervous McGee even knew she was on a cruise. While the couple is perhaps a bit overprotective about Judy, they are now wondering what else she is hiding?
Could McGee’s mother-in-law be leading a life that was a bit wilder than either ever imagined?
What Was The NCIS-Hallmark Mashup?
When Patricia Richardson got the script for this NCIS episode, she jumped at the chance to play something so complex and fun. However, she had no idea that she was about to have a couple of big reunions, including a former Hallmark Christmas movie castmate. She found out when she want on set.
Richardson told TV Insider, “When I got there, I hadn’t watched this season and I didn’t know that Katrina Law had joined, and Katrina and I — one of the best [Hallmark or Lifetime Christmas movies] I ever did was with Katrina and it was called Snow Bride. She was so funny in that, wasn’t she great? And so when I saw her, I was like, “Katrina!” I’ve been following her on Instagram ever since. So I’ve watched her have her baby and I had no idea she’d be there. So that was really cool, that I got to see her and she’s so gorgeous.”
That was not Richardson’s only reunion. “And also I had a director who I’d worked with before. Michael Zinberg directed me in the episode that I did of Quantum Leap with Scott Bakula years ago.”
What Is Hallmark’s Snow Bride About?
We know the NCIS story, how about the plot of the Hallmark Christmas movie, Snow Bride? Greta Kaine (Law) is a gossip writer. Moreover, she needs to get the first scoop on the late Senator Tannenhill’s sons. One of them is going to propose marriage, and she needs to get the scoop ahead of the other thirsty writer, Wes (Tom Lenk). That is because her editor has now made this a competition and there are stakes. The winner can be the editor of the online version of their gossip rag. That is a promotion worth fighting for!
On her way back from picking up her best friend’s bridal gown, she gets an insider scoop that the Tannenhills are at their Big Bear vacation compound. Somehow she ends up in the bridal gown, staying as a guest of the family and befriending matriarch Maggie Tannenhill (Richardson), and Peters (Robert Curtis Brown), the caretaker. They are not privileged people, but warm and wonderful people. There are a lot of warm and wonderful conversations between Maggie and Greta.
As this is Hallmark, there is definitely a romance, and that is with the older Tannenhill Brothers, Ben (Jordan Belfi). Or is it with the younger Tannenhill brother, Jared (Bobby Campo)? You will have to watch it to find out.
How good is Snow Bride? Grumpy Dan from the Deck The Hallmark podcast actually liked it! For those new to that pod, Daniel doesn’t like anything.
