‘GMA’: Emotional Goodbye Leaves Gio Benitez In Tears

As TV Shows Ace previously reported, Cecilia Vega is leaving the ABC talk show. She’s moving from New York City to Washington, D.C., where she will host 60 Minutes. Gio Benitez shared the news with his fans and followers.

In his latest Instagram Story, he announced that Cecilia won’t return to Good Morning America. He posted a touching clip of himself with her behind the scenes on the set of the show. Gio filmed himself behind the desk with Cecilia, who looked at her laptop.

Gio asked her “are you ready?” She still looked down at her computer as she asked, “Ready for what?” Gio laughed and asked her what she meant. Cecilia noticed that he was filming them. Both of them laughed. Looking back at that moment made him feel emotional.

“So incredibly proud of this one right here,” Gio Benitez wrote in his Instagram Stories. “This was a few months ago, but I’d say she is ready. Our Latina Queen @ceciliavegaabc is leaving us 😭 but, at the same time, she’s making history as the first Latina correspondent for 60 minutes.”

Cecilia has filled in for many talent on Good Morning America. She even filled in for Amy Robach and TJ Holmes, who are suspended from the show since December 2022. Cecilia even filled in for Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan when they were away from the morning show.

Speaking of TJ Holmes, fans are demanding that Gio Benitez take over TJ’s spot on the show. TJ and Amy returned to GMA3: What You Need to Know in early December, but they were immediately removed. Gio filled in with Stephanie Ramos.

When they joined Stephanie Ramos on GMA3, fans raved about them. They wanted Gio to immediately replace TJ. Some of them flocked to Twitter during the broadcast to share their thoughts.

• “Gio, perfect choice.”
• “Let’s keep you there.”
• “You are such a great fit for this show.”
• “Keep up the great work!”
• “I hope you are both the permanent hosts.”
• “I hope they keep them!”

However, many hosts have filled in during that time. Two of the most likely contenders are DeMarco Morgan and Rhiannon Ally. Fans also loved seeing Gio Benitez with Janai Norman. ABC has yet to make a decision after the claims that TJ allegedly had an affair with Amy as well as many staffers on GMA.
