‘Killer Vacation’ Comedy Features Jason Momoa & John Cena
Two of DC Comics’ biggest movie stars are joining forces for a comedy movie. Jason Momoa and John Cena will team up for the movie Killer Vacation for Warner Bros.
Here is what you need to know about the new movie and when it should come out.
John Cena & Jason Momoa to star in Killer Vacation
Variety reports that John Cena and Jason Momoa will star in a new action comedy coming from Warner Bros. This will keep both DC actors in the same studio for the movie as they await their next turns in their respective comic book properties. Cena starred as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and then his own HBO Max series. Jason Momoa is Aquaman with a cameo in the Season 1 finale of Peacemaker.
The two actors also worked together in the upcoming Fast & Furious movies, where Cena played Dom’s brother and Momoa played a new character, replacing the departing Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs). Their new movie will keep the action but add a healthy dose of comedy. Killer Vacation‘s plot remains unknown.
Mark and Brian Gunn (who also wrote Dwayne Johnson’s action movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) penned this new movie. According to Variety, the film is a fun, lighthearted action comedy similar to True Lies.
Cena and Momoa coming back to DC for more
Both men have future projects set up at Warner Bros. for the DC Extended Universe. However, it is unknown how much more they will do now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are running the franchise.
John Cena likely has a home as long as he wants it. He stars as Peacemaker in the HBO Max series. Based on the character who first appeared in The Suicide Squad, he is an antihero who wants peace so badly, he will kill anyone to achieve it. James Gunn directed The Suicide Squad and worked as the showrunner on the HBO Max series. As Gunn’s baby, Peacemaker likely isn’t going anywhere.
Aquaman, however, is another story. Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman and will see his second solo movie hit theaters in 2023. He also starred in Justice League and had a cameo in Peacemaker, where the Justice League showed up too late to help. Momoa was one of Zack Snyder’s signings, and Gunn might look at moving away from that era of DC movies. While Henry Cavill is returning as Superman, Momoa’s fate likely lies in the box-office success or failure of his next movie.
