Dr. Stone is finally ramping up to its brand-new season. We got the hour-long special, Dr. Stone: Ryusui, back in July 2022. Yet, we haven’t heard much news on the follow-up to 2021’s Season 2 until now. Now it is official: Season 3 is almost here. Just recently, we got the first promotional poster for the new arc, as well as a release window for when we can expect the first episodes of Season 3 to premiere.

Season 3 Is Coming

The official poster for the new season just hit the internet, and already Dr. Stone fans are ready for more. There are no details on when we might see the first trailer just yet. However, considering the release window for Season 3 is “spring of 2023,” the odds seem pretty good that we’ll see something within the next couple of months.

Season 3 is going to cover Treasure Island, which we see the gang sailing toward in the promotional poster. The tagline in the tweet showcasing the new poster translates into English as “Senku and the others finally set off into the New World.” This is going to be a huge season as Senku attempts to find the catalyst he can use to mass-produce the petrification revival fluid. It could also lead to some major reveals about the nature of how the world wound up petrified in the first place.

It’s unknown at this time how many episodes the third season is going to have. Season 2 had a drastically shorter runtime at only 11 episodes in contrast to Season 1’s 24. That’s less than half the number of episodes. Hopefully, that isn’t the case with Season 3. In all likelihood, we should get at least a number similar to Season 2’s runtime, if not longer.

More Dr. Stone

Dr. Stone is one of the most critically-acclaimed anime of the last decade. Both IGN and Crunchyroll put the show in their “best anime of the 2010s” lists. It is commonly praised for its amazing character work alongside its surprising scientific accuracies. Considering a lot of anime and manga take wild liberties with their interpretations of science and manga, it’s interesting to see a title that’s as fanciful as it is scientific. The manga just ended with the last chapter, its 26th volume, coming out in March of this year. It has well over 10 million sales and is one of the most successful modern manga in the world, so Season 3 is certain to make a huge splash when it premieres.

Dr. Stone Season 3 will be premiering on Crunchyroll sometime in the spring of 2023. The first two seasons, along with the special Dr. Stone: Ryusui are out on the platform now.
