“When my dear mama passed away, we were debating what to put on her headstone,” Robin Roberts recalled. “It says, ‘A Child of God.’ That’s what it says.”

She concluded her morning message by saying, “Have yourself a blessed day, and be a blessing, c’mon.” Robin couldn’t keep it together during the segment. She’s usually poised, but her voice cracked. The co-host probably wished that her mom was with her at that moment.

GMA fans took to the comment section of the Instagram post to react to the morning message. Most of them are grateful for Robin Roberts’ daily dose of inspiration. Others can relate to the loss of her mother. Some shared a very important message for the anchor.

“Good morning Robin and Glam Fam! You all coordinated today with orange, I love it! We are all Children of God!” one fan wrote.

“And as your mother, you too Robin are a child of God!” a second user assured her.

GMA host talks about her faith

In June, Robin Roberts opened up about her Christian faith. In her own words, she wrote in her People cover story that anyone can become “accidental, incidental activists.” Robin reflected on the “responsibility” and “privilege” that she has as a television star. She’s an openly gay woman who wants to encourage others to be their “authentic selves.”

However, Robin was afraid to be both “Christian and gay.” Instead, she used her public platform and image to encourage others to have more “courage” in being themselves. Robin wants to assure other LGTBQ people of faith that they’re not alone.

“I’m not an activist. I say God bless the activists because what they do is so important,” Robin Roberts wrote. “But I think I’ve spawned activism in people. I like that. And we can do it without beating our chests and getting on a soapbox and getting in someone’s face and yelling at them about how they should be.”
