‘The View’ Sherri Shepherd Reveals Harsh Words From Joy Behar
Sherri Shepherd revealed the harsh words she got from Joy Behar. She was the guest on The View during Friday’s broadcast. Sherri was a co-host on the morning show alongside Joy. She was happy to be back at her old stomping grounds, where it all started for her.
While Sherri wasn’t a controversial co-host like some of the past panelists, she used to share opinions that made people scratch their heads. This prior gig and her guest hosting The Wendy Williams Show helped lead her to host her own name-sake talk show. Sherri opened up about the advice she received from her colleagues.
Sherri Shepherd receives wisdom from The View co-hosts
The comedian received friendly advice from her counterparts. Sherri Shepherd shared that some of her former View co-hosts gave her wisdom. She leaned on them before the start of her talk show in September 2022. Sherri can recall the exact harsh words she received from Joy Behar.
“Joy Behar said to me, ‘The moment you open up your mouth, half the world is going to hate you,'” Sherri Shepherd shared with the viewers.
She also received advice from moderator Whoopi Goldberg. The actress informed her that even though she has her own talk show, “It’s never about you, it’s always for someone else. So, take it off of you and know that you’re taking people on a journey.”
In September 2022, Sherri Shepherd embarked on her own journey. She became the permanent replacement for Wendy on The Wendy Williams Show. After a season that had rotating celebrity guest hosts, Sherri ended up with her own talk show. She shared that it was her dream in the making. She always saw herself being a talking head like her former counterpart.
Feel pressure to replace Wendy Williams?
Viewers can’t help but compare Sherri Shepherd to Wendy Williams, who broke the mold in daytime television. The former radio personality brought celebrity gossip and hip-hop culture to the forefront. No one else was discussing those topics at the time.
Sherri Shepherd has the attention on her as she replaces Wendy. Even though she is using the old set and bringing the “Hot Topics” segment with her, she wants to stay true to herself. Sherri wants to be “authentically” herself. She didn’t feel the pressure to fill the void that Wendy left behind.
“I put pressure on myself to make sure I’m bringing my best self each time I step onto that set,” Sherri Shepherd previously shared with the DailyMail. “Making sure I can offer people one hour of joy, laughter and inspiration is the only thing I’m worried about.”
