Nick Fury Returns In ‘Secret Invasion’ First-Look For Disney+
Marvel has a huge event series coming to Disney+ and it will bring Nick Fury back to the action as he fights to save the Earth once again. This series is Secret Invasion, based on a comic book storyline where Skrulls infiltrates Earth disguised as Earth’s superheroes.
Disney held its D23 convention this weekend and showed the first trailer for Secret Invasion, while also letting fans know what to expect. Here is what you need to know.
What is Marvel’s Secret Invasion?
Secret Invasion is an upcoming Marvel series on Disney+ that is based on comic books of the same name. The comic book series was based around a long-gestating plan by the Skrulls to invade Earth. The Skrulls had captured various heroes and then shape-shifted into them, blending in with the hero teams on Earth. The plan was to get enough Skrulls in place on Earth posing as heroes to take the planet down from within.
The entire plan ended when the Skrulls were revealed and the heroes didn’t know who they could trust. In the end, the Skrull Queen showed up on Earth. Norman Osborn, of all people, ended up killing her and ending the war. This led to bad things for Marvel’s heroes when Norman took advantage of his new popularity.
It looks like Secret Invasion on Disney+ will also have some long-lasting effects on the MCU. The D23 panel showed it will lead directly into another Disney+ series that will closely follow it — Armor Wars.
What did D23 reveal about Secret Invasion?
According to the panel at D23, Secret Invasion will lead to Armor Wars. That is another Disney+ series based on a comic book story, but there will be major changes. In the comics, Tony Stark decided too many people were using his armor and tech for weapons. he set out to retrieve it all, including those from the U.S. government. In the Disney+ series, Stark is still dead. It will be Jim Rhodes (War Machine) setting out to retrieve the armor and weapons.
Based on the two Marvel comic book storylines, there is a good chance that Stark Tech ends up in bad hands thanks to the Skrulls who invaded Earth. In the first-look trailer, Rhodes is one of the people Nick Fury talks to and is asked about the people working around him. Maria Hill, Stark’s former number one at S.H.I.E.L.D., is also in the trailer talking about the possible invasion.

Now, the big question about Secret Invasion is why the Skrulls would invade Earth. Captain Marvel and Nick Fury helped them in Captain Marvel, and they were shown to be refugees in need of help. What would make them bad? The only thought now is a possible Skrull civil war, with Earth stuck in the middle. We won’t know that slant until the show is released, which right now is scheduled for spring 2023.
