Of all the Marvel shows to hit Disney+ thus far, Loki is undoubtedly the most successful. It had the biggest first episode viewership of any of the MCU Disney+ exclusives. It makes sense. Apart from Thanos, Loki is certainly the most popular MCU villain. Pair that with a fantastic concept, and how huge the consequences of Season 1 are on the MCU as a whole and people couldn’t stop talking about this show in 2021. So, naturally, the internet has been buzzing about when we’re getting Loki Season 2. Recently, we got some new information on the next season of the hit show.
Season 2 Of Loki Soon?
We’ve had official confirmation since the finale of Season 1 that Season 2 is definitely coming. But at San Diego Comic-Con this year, we finally got Season 2 on the Phase 5 release schedule. Surprisingly enough, it’s actually the only MCU Disney+ show from Phase 4 that’s getting a new season in Phase 5.
Characters like Ms. Marvel and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America will be getting new stories in The Marvels and Captain America 4, respectively. But no new season of Moon Knight much to the disappointment of fans of that character. Loki season 2, however, got a release time, although not a more specific release date.
Summer 2023 is the current release plan for Season 2. So no specific premiere date as of right now. But we know that the Echo solo series is also set for summer 2023 but put slightly before Loki on the release map. Meaning Echo is likely getting a premiere in early summer (May/June) with Loki getting a premiere in late summer (July/August).
The story of this new season of the show is uncertain as of right now. Season 1 ended on a game-changing note with the multiverse being opened up and the new major villain Kang the Conqueror getting his introduction. Season 2 will likely see Loki continuing to make his way through the multiverse. To what end, we can only speculate as of right now. But considering the impact of Season 1 on the entire
Marvel’s Big Plans For Phase 5
Along with Loki Season 2, we got an assortment of new MCU Phase 5 announcements at San Diego Comic-Con. On top of Loki getting a new season, we’re also getting a new season of Daredevil for the first time since 2015. Fantastic news for fans of the Netflix MCU shows that have been feeling the neglect in recent years. Combine those with solo shows for fan-favorite characters like Agatha Harkness and Echo, and Phase 5 of the MCU is looking more exciting every day.
