Derick Dillard Confirms Jill Is NOT Controlled By Her Parents Anymore?
Former Counting On star Derick Dillard made a bold statement online, and it may give some insight into where his wife, Jill, stands with her parents.
For years, fans have assumed that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar continue to have some control over their kids’ lives, even when they are adults. Fans believe that Jim Bob is financially supporting some of his adult children. Others think that Jim Bob and Michelle’s strict rules about modesty have carried into their kids’ adult lives.
But Derick’s recent comment suggests that that may no longer be the case for Jill.
Derick Dillard reveals that Jill is not under her parents’ control?
On Instagram on Friday, May 6, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball shared a few photos of the Duggars at a vow renewal for one of their friends. In the snaps, several of the kids, including John-David and his wife Abbie, Joy-Anna and her husband, Austin, and Katey, the wife of Jedidiah, are dancing.
This is not allowed in the Duggar home, so this comes as a surprise. You can check out the photos here.
In the comments section of the post, Derick Dillard joined the conversation.
And he wrote, “In my opinion it’s unhealthy if adult children are pressured to have the same convictions as their parents.”
This comment might be a sign that Jill is no longer being controlled by her parents. It’s possible that Derick is dropping hints about Jill having her own convictions these days rather than continuing to adhere to her parents’ rules.
However, Derick Dillard does not explicitly state that. So, there’s no way to know for sure what he’s talking about here. But based on what we’ve seen from Jill and Derick, it seems to be pretty obvious that she is not following her parents’ rules any longer. For example, wears pants and swimwear, has her nose pierced, and sends her son to public school.
It’s possible that Jill and Derick Dillard are planning to encourage their kids to have their own convictions, too. Because this is Derick’s perspective, it may be the way he’s raising his own children, Israel and Samuel.
