When Is Season 2 Of ‘Russian Doll’ Coming To Netflix?

Russian Doll was among the best Netflix Original series of 2019 and a release date has finally been announced for Season 2 of the popular show. For those fans who have been waiting impatiently to see what happens next, we can finally tell you when the second season will drop on the streamer.

The Netflix Original comedy-drama series Russian Doll first debuted on February 1, 2019. The series has since been nominated for five Emmy awards. Among them was Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Natasha Lyonne.

Besides Lyonne, the show also stars Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland. It was likely inspired by the movie Groundhog Day. Lyonne stars as Nadia, the guest of honor at her own birthday party, thrown by her best friend. However, when Nadia is accidentally killed by being hit by a car, she mysteriously ends up back in the bathroom at the party she was attending.

Nadia is confused, believing she must have been drugged. However, when this happens over and over, she begins to question her sanity. Meanwhile, she goes on a quest to try to break the cycle of death that she cannot seem to escape.

What is happening with Season 2?

Filming of Season 2 of Russian Doll was scheduled to start in March 2020. However, New York was impacted by COVID-19 at that stage, causing filming to be postponed. There was even talk of canceling filming of Season 2.

In February 2021, it was revealed that the second season was due to start production on March 1, 2021, again filming in New York City. Finally, filming was completed and fans can look forward to streaming Season 2 soon.

What can we expect from Russian Doll Season 2?

It is difficult to know exactly what will happen in the second season of Russian Doll. Fans will recall the cliffhanger at the end of Season 1, which left things open for Season 2. The final scene in the finale did seem to hint that Nadia and Alan had managed to transcend realities and were reunited. All we have right now is a teaser from Netflix, included below.

Whatever happens, the series is sure to be equally entertaining this time around when it drops on Netflix. Rumors are doing the rounds that the show will be traveling back in time in Season 2, but nothing definite is known at this stage.
