Joy Behar Talked About Taking A Break From The Show During A Recent Podcast
Behar has been part of The View since it first started in 1997. She left the show back in 2013, following the 16th season. However, she returned by 2015 and has been part of the show ever since.
Thanks to her position on the show, Behar often takes part with the Behind the Tables podcast. Recently, she opened up about taking an upcoming break from the show.

While speaking with executive producer Brian Teta, it was noted that this would be Behar’s last podcast episode for a while. Teta started the conversation, asking, “This is your last podcast for a little while because next week, you’re not going to be here. Can we talk about that?”
Behar confirmed, “Oh, well, they made me bank the weekend shows.” When Teta noted, “You’re going to be on the weekend shows even though you’re not here,” Behar mused that it would be for the best to explain the situation after a bit of back and forth.
Noting that fans will still see her on the show, Behar explained that these appearances will be prerecorded. As she joked, “You need a chyron, ‘Joy is gone, but this is on tape.'”

However, Behar will be out of the country during this time. She explained, “I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the tunnel to London after a week. Then I’ll be in London the second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theater in the West End.”
Giving fans a few details about the show, Behar confirmed her co-stars will be Jackie Hoffman and two British actors. Teasing, “Doesn’t that sound like fun?,” she noted that she would be spending her time in Paris working on her writing, as well as visiting art exhibits.

Back in New York, Teta then revealed who would be filling in for Behar on the show. He continued, “We’re going to have various folks filling in for you. Week one, I’m going to say … Well, we’ve already told people that Sheryl Underwood is coming… for two days, and then next week, we’re going to have Kara Swisher, who’s very funny and very smart. She’ll be great… and Whoopi is going to be here on Fridays… I don’t think she knows that [yet]. I’ll let her know.” For the time being, however, Behar will stay on the show for the rest of the week before leaving on her break, which will last around two weeks.
