CBS Makes Major Announcement About Future Of ‘NCIS’
On Tuesday, CBS announced more on the future of the show that is known as “the mothership,” NCIS. This military procedural drama is now on Season 21. Moreover, the network will be airing the 1,000th episode of the franchise on Monday.
Therefore, will there be more episodes in the future? Here is the network’s decision.
CBS Makes An Announcement About NCIS
On Tuesday, CBS announced that NCIS has been renewed for Season 22. According to TV Line, they renewed TV’s “second-most watched entertainment program.” They are averaging 9.71 million total viewers, which matches Season 19 numbers.
The number one program on television? That is also on CBS and is Tracker, Justin Hartley’s new series. CBS renewed that hit just weeks after the successful premiere.
Sean Murray, who plays McGee posted on Instagram, “Thanks to everyone for continuing to stick with us…thanks to an incredible crew for helping make all this happen…season 33 of #NCIS coming at ya soon ;)”
One fan commented, “hope crossover with Sydney, Hawaii and Tony.” Fans are already finding ways to keep this franchise connecting into a megaverse.

NCIS Expanding Franchise
The news of the NCIS renewal should not be a huge surprise to anyone. The series continues to be the anchor for a cornucopia of spinoffs. This is starting with Sydney, which was recently renewed for Season 2.
Originally, the first international spinoff of the franchise was supposed to premiere on Paramount+. However, due to the strikes, CBS decided to air it there, and it was a hit.
However, this is not the only spinoff. There is going to be a Tony and Ziva spinoff that takes place in Europe. That will start production over the summer and hopefully premiere before the end of the year.
Lastly, Mark Harmon is sort of returning to NCIS with the prequel spinoff Origins. This is the story of young Gibbs in the 90s. While Mark Harmon will not be in front of the camera, he is narrating. In addition, he is an executive producer, along with his son Sean, who came up with this series idea.
However, there is one spinoff whose future is still in question.

What About Hawaii?
Although Sydney has been renewed, what about NCIS: Hawaii? CBS has not yet made a decision on the future of this series. This Hawaiian spinoff is currently on Season 3. Moreover, LL Cool J is reprising his role as Sam Hanna and has been on every episode of this shortened season.
The numbers are not as good as the OG, but will the network renew for Season 4? That answer should happen in the coming weeks. Hopefully, they will, and that fan gets the dream NCIS worldwide crossover.

I love all of the NCIS Shows. please don’t cancel NCIS Hawaii
When networks don’t bother caring about what viewers really love to watch and these shows get cancelled, then the networks can’t be surprised when their viewers start watching other stations! If they really want to tank their viewers, their viewers will tank them!!
I am a true fan of NCIS shows, but my favorite show is NCIS: Las Angeles. I felt my heart sink when the show ended. The characters acted like a true family.
