‘Jeopardy!’ Welcomes First Celeb Into Tournament Of Champions
Jeopardy! always gets big numbers for its Tournament of Champions every year. This is when the best of the best compete for the biggest prizes and the competition is fierce and the questions hard. This year, the popular game show will bring in a new reason for fans to watch. A celeb will get into the Tournament of Champions for the first time.
Here is which celebrity is competing in the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions and why he might be a perfect entrant.
Jeopardy! Welcomes First Celeb To Tournament Of Champions
Jeopardy! will add a new twist to the Tournament of Champions this year. The game show will bring in Ike Barinholtz to compete with the regular champions in the tournament. Sony announced the news on Tuesday (via TV Line). This is the first time that the champion from the primetime Jeopardy! spinoff will get into this prestigious tournament.
Fans might know Ike from his appearances on The Mindy Project as well as The Afterparty on Apple TV+. He played Morgan in The Mindy Project while he was Brett in the first season of Afterparty. Ike also has a variety of big-screen roles in movies like Neighbors, Blockers, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He got his breakout on MADtv as a featured performer.
Ike will compete against 26 other Jeopardy! champions from regular episodes of the show. The show includes the contestants who won the most games since the 2022 Tournament of Champions. Six players who advanced from the Wildcard competitions in Seasons 27, 28, and 29 also joined as well as the High School Reunion Tournament winners.
Ike Barinholtz Past Jeopardy! Experience
Ike Barinholtz competed on Celebrity Jeopardy! in the 2022-2023 season. He ended up in the finals against Patton Oswalt and Wil Wheaton. His victory in the tournament saw $1 million donated to his charity, the Hollygrove Programs at Pacific Clinics.
This also wasn’t the first time that Ike Barinholtz has shown his intelligence in televised game shows. He also competed in 2020 on ABC’s celeb edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He won $125,000 for charity on that show, once again proving his intelligence.
Now, he has his work cut out for him against the best of the best. The Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions kicks off on February 23 with the Quarterfinal 1. Ike will take part in the March 4 Quarterfinal 7 episode against Melissa Klapper (3-game champion) and Ray Lalonde (13-game champion). The finals start on March 12.
Some of the more successful names this year include Emily Sands (S37/38 Champions Wildcard winner), Cris Pannullo (21-game champion), Yungsheng Wang (S37/38 Champions Wildcard winner), Stephen Webb (8-game champion), Justin Bolsen, (High School Reunion Tournament champion), and Ben Chan (9-game champion).
