Discovery fans have been enjoying the Gold Rush spinoff Hoffman Family Gold Season 2. This season, Todd Hoffman and Hunter Hoffman are having a showdown. That means two teams, two sluices, and twice the tension.

However, Discovery will not be airing a new episode this week. Why won’t this series be airing?

It Is Shark Week On Discovery

This week Discovery is hosting Shark Week. That means all of their regular shows like Hoffman Family Gold are being preempted for this themed content. According to the Discovery Twitter Shark Week schedule, Deadly Sharks Of Paradise is in the Hoffman Family series time slot this week.

This year, Jason Momoa is hosting this fan-favorite week. Approximately 30 million viewers tune in every year to celebrate and learn more about sharks. This year, the Aquaman star is introducing 20 hours of new shark programming.

However, when will gold mining fans get to see Todd Hoffman trying to mine for gold in Alaska again?

Hoffman Family Gold Is Coming Back Next Week

Thankfully, Discovery is premiering a new episode of Hoffman Family Gold next week. On Friday, August 4, at 9 p.m., Eastern is the episode entitled “Hold My Gear.” In this episode, Holy Roller has a transmission issue. Could this mean that Todd’s side could shut down? Not if Randy and Tater have anything to do with it! The duo does a bush fix and gets the gold moving again.

On the other side, Hunter takes his team to a new cut. Is his intuition right about the gold in this new cut? Maybe. This week, the Hoffmans have the best weigh-in of the season.

Five Episodes Left Of Hoffman Family Gold Season 2

Although Hoffman Family Gold is taking a temporary Season 2 hiatus for Shark Week, gold mining fans may not realize they have seen half of the season already. Five more episodes are remaining in Season 2. The final episode will premiere on Friday, September 1.

This is especially important as Todd Hoffman and Hunter Hoffman’s competition to reach their lofty goal is still unsuccessful. Although they are now getting over their Holy Roller and Black Pearl repairs, they need to be on exceptional gold. That means working long hours and working together.

As Jack Hoffman explained to his grandson Hunter, what matters is that they are “mining together.” Back in the 1980s, Jack struck out to gold mine. However, he was unable to strike it rich. Now, he is together with his son Todd, and grandsons Hudson and Hunter.

Jack told his 24-year-old grandson Hunter that being together is what really matters in gold mining. While this season has been about competition, this could be a foreshadowing that the Hoffmans will be united by the end of the season. But, will they meet their goal?

Hoffman Family Gold fans, what are your predictions about the final five episodes of Season 2?
