Spy animes seem to be all the rage right now. Between the massive success of Spy x Family and the lesser, but still notable success of Spy Classroom, it’s a great time to be a spy. Spy Classroom is one of the anime that streaming platform HIDIVE is attempting to use to stand out from its main competitor Crunchyroll. It’s off to a good start, too. And now, there is official confirmation that Season 2 of the spy girl group is coming, and it’s coming soon.
Season 2 Announcement
Confirmation of Spy Classroom Season 2 comes via a small teaser that hit the internet recently. It shows some high-stakes scenes from the first season with the announcement that new episodes are coming very soon.
By very soon, that means as soon as later this year. Yes, Spy Classroom is planning to make its return before the year is through with the premiere of Season 2. Season 1 isn’t even done airing yet. 12 episodes are currently out, with three more planned to air in the near future. This means the overall turnover time between Seasons 1 and 2 will be incredibly quick.
Season 2 should be coming to HIDIVE as part of the summer 2023 anime schedule. So, for fans who are really into Spy Classroom, there really won’t be any wait after its Season 1 finale to get more episodes. It’s already on the way.
Season 1 has fairly positive reviews thus far. Critics and fans enjoy its diverse and interesting characters along with its mixture of humor and high-stakes spy action. Overall, it is difficult for any anime not currently on Crunchyroll, the dominating anime platform, to hold the spotlight. Crunchyroll holds a near monopoly in the West on nearly every anime that fans want to watch. Spy Classroom is proving to be a good case for one platform not holding all the cards here in the US.
Spy Classroom
Fans who are interested in getting into Spy Classroom have multiple options for doing so. The title began as a light novel in 2020, then became a manga, and now has most of its first season. So there are three different venues with different possibilities for however fans might prefer to consume the story of Spy Classroom.
The synopsis of the story is that it’s about a time when espionage and misinformation dominate international conflict. In that world, a man named Klaus is attempting to teach a group of misfit wannabe-spy girls how to handle missions thought of by many as “impossible”. He has only a small window of time to teach them everything he knows before a mission that could kill them all.
