Netflix’s Upcoming Series ‘Wednesday’ Gets Eerie Title Sequence
Netflix is doing its best to get fans excited for its upcoming Tim Burton series Wednesday. The streamer recently released its opening title sequence and it couldn’t have been creepier. Based on the creepy sequence, it is clear that Tim Burton has done justice to The Addams Family nostalgia. Not just that, there are several clues hidden throughout the sequence that might or might not be important after the series premieres. Keep reading to find more details about this new opening title sequence!
What Is Wednesday‘s New Opening Title Sequence About?
The concept for the credits was developed by Tim Burton while legendary composed Danny Elfman pitched in for the music keeping it kooky and creepy like the original. Although Elfman collaborates with Tim a lot, he never contributed to Barry Sonnenfeld’s live-action Addams Family movies.

Topped with hauntingly beautiful music with ominous imagery, the title sequence shows imagery of bugs being swallowed by Venus flytraps. It also shows crows flying past a full moon. The sequence shows Thing, the handiest family member of the creepy family, crawling down a spiral staircase that resembles a clock. Viewers can also see a burning tree inside a crystal ball while the Nightshade Society is emblazoned on a mysterious tome.
When Will Wednesday Debut On Netflix?
Wednesday stars Jenny Ortega in the titular role alongside Jamie McShane and Gwendoline Christie. The series also stars the original Wednesday from the film franchise, Christina Ricci. As per Mashable, the series is slated to debut on November 23 on Netflix and trails Wednesday’s story. She is a student at the Nevermore Academy and attempts to solve a murder mystery that involves her parents Morticia and Gomez.

The parents are played by Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Fred Armisen plays Uncle Fester while Wednesday’s brother, Pugsley, is played by Isaac Ordonez. However, the show isn’t really about them and each of these characters mostly plays a guest role chipping in every now and then. Instead, the titular character will interact with other people such as Principal Larissa Weems, played by Gwendoline.
Wednesday‘s Fate Is Tied To The Nevermore Academy
Talking about the series, Burton said, “Wednesday, to me, is the classic outsider. Part of the fun of the show was to create a school for outsiders. And Nevermore just really fit into the Addams Family world.”

Although Wednesday attended eight different schools in the part, ending up at the Nevermore Academy was destined to happen. Her parents Gomez and Morticia are graduates of the same academy.
“We definitely wanted to have the vibe of a kind of Gothic, interesting place in the DNA of the Addams family,” chimed in the show’s executive producer, Alfred Gough. Although the school’s basic architecture looks familiar, the series takes Nevermore Academy to a whole new level of darkness.
