Below Deck Down Under has some high tension on the high seas. Most of it stems from Chef Ryan McKeown, who argues with just about anyone who enters his galley, including Captain Jason Chambers. As TV Shows Ace previously reported, fans think Ryan is the worst chef to appear in the franchise.

Stews Magda Ziomek and Tumi Mhlongo sat down for an exclusive interview. They both revealed that Ryan is a different person from how he comes off on the show. The stews also teased the rest of the season, which will get “steamy.” Plus, they reflected on their own behavior in the Peacock Original series.

Below Deck Down Under ladies talk about their experience

During their lengthy interview with TV Insider, Magda and Tumi of Below Deck Down Under shared what it was like to watch themselves on the show. They were asked whether it made them look at themselves differently.

Tumi said that it “definitely” made her reflect on herself. She took notice of all her flaws. On the other hand, she’s “proud of the person I’ve become.” Tumi noted how far she’s come after filming Below Deck Down Under and in her yachting career. She calls her time on the show a “positive experience.”

Magda feels that way as well. She admitted that she had to “learn how to laugh at myself more.” The Polish beauty goes through her share of struggles with her job and with chief stew Aesha Scott. Even though she’s worked as a model, she said it was “scary to see myself on TV.” But, like Tumi, she’s also “proud” of how far she’s come and has been laughing at herself more these days.

Peacock’s original series will continue to get “steamy”

They also teased about what fans can expect in the upcoming episodes of Below Deck Down Under. Magda warns fans to pay more attention to their conversations. She says their crew members have some “amazing conversations in the cabins.” She thinks it’ll be “interesting to hear our comments,” especially after their wild crew nights out.

Tumi and Magda have a heart-to-heart conversation while they’re hungover. What else can happen? The stews wouldn’t spill the tea. Tumi teased: “You’re just going to wait and see,” while Magda claims things will get “romantic” between deckhand Culver Bradbury and Brittini Burton.

Tumi then added that their jacuzzi scene “gets very steamy.” Magda chimed in, “It’s only going to get hotter and hotter.” Tumi laughed and said she was “going to hide in a hole.” But it’s not these ladies that turn up the hotness.

Chef Ryan is not such a bad person?

Chef Ryan McKeown has become the villain of the season. Below Deck Down Under fans have been sharing their thoughts about him on social media and it’s not pretty. Ryan has addressed the trolls and haters and says he will continue to ignore the criticism. He’s received backlash for his bland, uninspired dishes and his arrogance in the galley, especially with Aesha.

However, Magda and Tumi claim that he acts differently behind the cameras. Both of them had a great experience with the yacht chef. They both saw something in him that his crew members didn’t get to see.

Magda added, “Ryan is a different person from everyone. For me, he was such a sweetheart. He has a huge heart. He is a very good person.” The two even met up after filming Below Deck Down Under.

Tumi noted that he treated her “differently than he did with Aesha.” While the two would quarrel, they would get over it quickly. Unlike Aesha, Tumi wasn’t afraid to call Ryan out on his behavior. That helped her earn his respect.

Are you shocked to learn that Ryan is a “sweetheart” off-camera? What are your thoughts on his behavior this season? Sound off below in the comment section.
