Below Deck Down Under Chef Ryan McKeown is opening up about his arrogance. He’s gotten his share of backlash for the way he’s treated chief stew, Aesha Scott. Fans call him the worst chef on the entire franchise. Not only does Ryan butt heads with Aesha, but he refuses to follow the charter guests’ food preferences. Ryan does not like it when a dish is sent back to the galley.

He made it clear that he does the bare minimum. His reason is that his father died from working himself to death. As a result, Ryan doesn’t want to work as hard as he needs to. In a new interview, he explains the reason for his rude demeanor.

Below Deck Down Under chef disrespects Aesha Scott

The first season of Below Deck Down Under premiered last month. Fans noticed how difficult Chef Ryan McKeown has made Aesha Scott’s job for her. He lashes out at her whenever she speaks to him. Viewers don’t like how he has been treating the fan-favorite who’s known for her sweet disposition.

The drama has already been served on this season of Below Deck Down Under. Fans agree that it’s even better than the current drama on Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Ryan is said not only to have issues with Aesha but with all of the crew members. The disagreeable chef has a hard time getting along with anyone when it’s not a crew night out.

“If arrogant was, like, personified, it would be Ryan,” Aesha Scott previously told Us Weekly. “He’s a very arrogant man. I think that’s something that everyone — not just as a chef — it’s kind of difficult to be around anyone that’s arrogant.”

However, Below Deck Down Under breakout star Captain Jason Chambers claims he never had issues with him. But he would notice how Ryan would act. Even though there was apparent drama in the galley, Jason saw no issues with his dishes. Jason tried his food and said it was “great.”

Chef Ryan McKeown speaks his side of the story

Chef Ryan is finally sharing his side of the story. The Below Deck Down Under chef addressed the criticism he’s received this season. In a new interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Ryan blames Aesha for his temper. He didn’t like the way she asked him about his work history.

“She just kinda comes in, again, with an arrogant question. Instead of, like, you know, communicating it in a way, it’s just, I think her choice of words [was] poor,” Ryan told The Daily Dish. “She kinda came in at a time where I was probably, may have been already frustrated, and I don’t think she approached it properly.”

Ryan already felt tension with Aesha from the moment they started filming Below Deck Down Under. He found it irritating when she asked him what kind “cheffy” he is. That comment stuck with him ever since. Ryan blames his “arrogance” on her.

He also claims that he has no other issues with working on other yachts. Ryan is so “very well-loved by everybody that I work with.” He and Aesha are “absolutely not” in touch these days. He speaks to everyone else, except for Aesha.

Ryan also addressed the criticism of his cooking from Below Deck Down Under fans. “Oh, I mean, the trolls are miserable,” he noted. Ryan isn’t the only one who feels this way. Third stew Ashley Marti shared a similar message for Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans who criticized her.

  1. Ryan is a terrible nasty person. He left the galley absolutely filthy. He should have been fired immediately and no one should hire him ever again.

    1. Completely agreed!!!! This guy needs a “Come to Jesus moment!” Aeshia had the patience of a saint!!! Simply an Ass***le!”
It doesn’t take much to be a human being, with common courtesy to another human being!!! God, forbid, you were not humane to any member of the crew!! Get IVER yourself!! You’re Not all that… NOT even close!!!

  2. Yes he is to blame for his behavior. So insecure and unprofessional. He did show us that Philly mentality. What an embarrassment. No one acts like that on a yacht and he was there longer then he should have been. He treated Aesha like dirt and with such disrespect. Please never return to yachting,as you have no class.
