Why Does Anna Duggar Really Stay With Josh?
Counting On fans have many questions about Anna Duggar and why she continues to stay married to Josh, even after everything they have been through. Fans have been hopeful that she will eventually get a divorce to protect herself and her children. But they might have discovered another reason that she’s still committed to him.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with the Duggars, you should know that Josh was found guilty of two child pornography charges in December. He’s now awaiting sentencing, which is on May 25.
He and Anna share seven children, Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus, Meredith, Mason, Maryella, and Madyson. Fans worry about the children, especially after hearing about Josh’s crimes.
But through it all, Anna Duggar seems to be standing by his side. She attended his trial and appeared to be supporting him. She hasn’t issued a statement on his conviction, but she did share a vague post that fans interpreted as her supporting him.
Why might Anna Duggar be staying married to Josh?
Online, for months, Duggar family followers have been discussing Anna’s relationship with Josh. Many people have urged her to leave her husband and protect her children. They are trying to figure out what is keeping Anna in this marriage.
It’s believed that her religious beliefs are preventing her from getting a divorce. However, even in strict religions, Josh’s crimes may be considered grounds for divorce, fans think.
One Duggar fan shared their theory, and they think that the help she gets from Josh’s family is enough to make her stay. It seems like Anna is financially relying on Jim Bob and Michelle.
The fan writes:
“I want Anna to file for divorce from her POS husband. But that would mean giving up the Duggar support system — Jim Bob’s money, the extended family that helps take care of her children, etc. — and giving up the only thing she’s ever known.”
Another fan argues, “Anna has free siblings who have all told her they will do anything she needs if only she will leave! She has Duggar siblings in law who would no doubt also help her.”

I would think that legally speaking, if she left, their family would have to still provide support to her and the kids since Josh is in jail. I can’t imagine that a court who granted her a divorce would just allow the Duggars to leave her high and dry. Those are their grandchildren. I think it is more a religious thing that she doesn’t divorce, but what is she going to do when he gets out? He won’t be allowed to be around the kids without another adult around, I don’t know if he would be allowed to live with them. What kind of marriage would she even have? She needs to get out now and move on before he gets out and complicates things even more for her.
