Battle Kitty interactive series on Netflix
Two years ago, Netflix first announced the upcoming interactive series and it was described as a “distinctive story experience.” At that stage, it was a project based on Matt Layzell’s Instagram series, The Adventures of Kitty & Orc.
However, now, more information is available about the upcoming Battle Kitty. The series, which will have nine episodes, also has a release date on Netflix.
Plot of the interactive series
The interactive series is described by Netflix as being set in a futuristic-medieval world. Here, warriors must find and defeat all the monsters on Battle Island, while collecting their coveted keys in the hope of becoming a “Champion.” Meanwhile, Kitty and Orc are two best friends, on a mission to help Kitty become Champion, but in their own way. In fact, they will battle for the title through cuteness and friendship.
Both Kitty and Orc embark on a journey to Championhood while facing many obstacles and naysayers along the way. On their journey, they will discover a surprise waiting for them at the Ancient Ruins. Readers can watch a trailer here.
Battle Kitty is a ‘mirror reflection’ of its creator
Matt Layzell is the creator of the series and has been credited on a number of projects. These include the Netflix series Pinky Malinky, Apple & Onion and Sanjay and Craig. The interactive series is being made internally by Netflix Animation, led by Melissa Cobb. In the announcement made two years ago Cobb described Battle Kitty as a “mirror image of Matt himself.”
Melissa described the show as “incredibly fun,” and said it includes huge amounts of both humor and heart. According to Cobb, the interactive series pushes the boundaries of storytelling in entirely new directions, thanks to Matt’s innovative interactive format. She added that this format will allow kids to “engage in an expansive universe together with the most lovable new underdog, Battle Kitty.”
Behind the scenes of the Netflix interactive series
Other people working on the series include staff writer Dave Tennant, writer Shakira Pressley and writer and script coordinator. Cooper Nelson. Meanwhile, Amanda McCann is the artist manager, Matthew Winslow is the picture editor, Austin Page is a composite artist, and Bert Youn is supervising director.
Moreover, the project is just the latest in the streamer’s interactive projects, aimed at younger audiences. So far, there are 18 specials, with Battle Kitty being the 19th. So far, highlights include Minecraft: Story Mode, The Boss Baby: Get That Baby! and Spirit Riding Free.
