Farrah Abraham paid tribute to the “love of [her] life” Derek Underwood. He died in a car accident in 2008, shortly after she gave birth at 17 years old to their daughter, Sophia. The reality star mourned the 13th year of his death anniversary. On Tuesday, December 28, she posted a clip on Instagram that featured his gravestone.
The video included a cross made out of red roses. He died on December 28, 2008. Derek Underwood is Farrah’s former boyfriend and the father of their 13-year-old daughter, Sophia. Farrah shared a heartwarming message with her 3 million followers.
Former Teen Mom star honors Derek Underwood
Farrah also took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of his gravestone. It reads, “In Loving Memory Of Son and Father Derek A. Underwood – May 8, 1990, to December 28, 2008.” In her caption, Farrah shared an emotional message. She feels that Derek was the “love of [her] life.”
“13 years ago, I’m grateful I see ‘FATHER’ on your headstone today,” Farrah Abraham captioned her post. “I’m grateful for our family, I’ve learned more about the human condition, bereavement, trauma, loss,& depression. [SIC] Your life has made a world of difference to mine and so many others.”
She concluded with “In Living Memory, Peace & Love to DEREK UNDERWOOD, The Love Of My Life & FATHER to our amazing & blessed @sophialabraham. A thank you, A good bye, A Always in my mind, giving me strength to make the world a better place. 🙏 [SIC] Blessed.”
Amid the mean comments, Farrah received a lot of love as well. Fan commended her for keeping Derek’s name alive, so Sophia can know who her father was. However, others asked her why his daughter doesn’t share his last name. Some fans slammed Farrah for trying to get sympathy.
Derek passed away in a car accident in 2008. At the time, Farrah was pregnant with their daughter at 17 years old. She first chronicled her journey on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. She later appeared on Teen Mom and Teen Mom OG.
Farrah’s last appearance on Teen Mom was in 2017. However, she sued MTV’s parent company Viacom for $5 million. She claimed they fired her from Teen Mom OG for her decision to work in the adult entertainment industry. Now, it looks like she’ll be making a return to the new show.

She is set to return to the show that made her a household name. MTV’s new spinoff series will gather the franchise stars at a resort, where they will stay under one roof for several weeks. The series will unite cast members from Teen Mom OG, Teen Mom 2, and Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant. The upcoming series is expected to premiere in January 2022 and will bring the stars together at the undisclosed resort.
