Valerie Bertinelli Talks ‘Terrifying’ Nude Memoir Photoshoot
Valerie Bertinelli has accomplished a lot in her life, including her work as an actress and a television personality. With many stories to tell, she recently opened up about her life in a memoir. However, she also talked about the unique cover she developed for the book.
Valerie Bertinelli Recently Released A Memoir, Getting Naked
Bertinelli is an actress who became known to many from her work on the sitcom, One Day at a Time. She later became known for roles on Touched by an Angel and Hot in Cleveland.
Establishing herself as a television personality, Bertinelli has also become known for hosting various Food Network shows. These include Valerie’s Home Cooking and Kids Baking Championship.
With her colorful life, Bertinelli recently released a new memoir, Getting Naked. However, when developing the book, she felt that she needed a cover to match.
This involved the decision to pose nude on the cover. During the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books earlier this month, the actress opened up about the move.
Bertinelli admitted, “It was terrifying.” However, she admitted that, while she had the original idea, things soon got out of her hands once she suggested the idea.
The Star Talked About What It Was Like Getting On ‘The Other Side’ Of Fear
Bertinelli explained, “But here’s the deal. It’s like when I was on the phone with my editor and I was saying, ‘I think because I’m calling it Getting Naked, I need to actually be naked on the cover. So, I wanna try and explore that.’ And she’s like, ‘Great!’ And then once it was out of my mouth, I kinda had to do it.”
According to the star, the photoshoot actually took place at her home. Easing into it, she shared, “I walked in [with] like a big sweater on … so I knew that I would be comfortable.” However, she threw caution to the wind and felt, “At a certain point, I just said, ‘I’m just gonna do it.’”
As shared by Parade, looking at the situation as a whole, Bertinelli expressed, “I’m one of those people that if I’m really afraid of something, I’m like, ‘Why? What are you so afraid of? What is it gonna hurt you? Just do it. Who the f— cares?’ So I finally just did it. I did it, I’m not gonna do it again. But it was interesting to walk through that fear and get to the other side of it.”
According to the outlet, the book, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect, was released on March 10. During the memoir, she discusses parts of her life, including divorce, menopause, and generational pain. An audiobook version of the memoir also exists, which is narrated by Bertinelli herself.
