‘Days Of Our Lives’ Sofia Mattsson Joins Soap In Mystery Role
Last year, General Hospital fans saw Sofia Mattsson announce her departure from the soap. Recently, however, it’s been announced that she is set to join another soap, Days of Our Lives. At this time, fans are already trying to guess who she will be playing.
Sofia Mattsson, Who First Appeared In Port Charles In 2018, Will Soon Be Popping Up In Salem
Mattsson is a Swedish-American actress known for her role as Sasha Gilmore on General Hospital. She first joined the soap in 2018.
As fans may remember, Sasha was secretive about her past when she arrived in Port Charles, making up stories about her family and previous life. The character was later revealed to be the secret daughter of Holly Sutton and Robert Scorpio.
Mattsson left the role in mid-2025, wanting to explore other acting opportunities at the time. In her last episode, the character left to protect, Daisy, her young daughter, with Michael Corinthos.
Recently, however, Mattsson shared that she was returning to the world of soaps. This time, however, she was trading Port Charles for Salem, becoming part of Days of Our Lives.
The news was revealed in a joint post shared by Mattsson herself and the official Days Instagram account. It read, “Sofia Mattsson is making her way to Salem early next year.”
The post was accompanied by a photo of Mattsson pointing at her dressing room door. In the comments, Mattsson also took to the comments to share a few heart emojis in a row.
The actress previously shared her desire to return to soaps in a conversation with TV Insider. “I’d have to see what the role was, but I’m definitely not opposed to coming back to the soap world. I think being on a soap is one of the best jobs you can have as an actress.” At the time, she teased, “I have some exciting new projects in the works, so I hope to see everyone through another screen soon!”
Fans Are Already Suggesting Who They Think Mattsson Will Be On Days Of Our Lives
With Mattsson’s recent news, many fans have been wondering just what her role will be. That said, the show hasn’t teased much just yet, meaning fans will have to stay tuned into Days of Our Lives to see who she will play, including whether or not she will play a new character.
However, taking to social media, fans are already speculating on just who she will play. Many suspected that she could take over for Abby Dimera, as fans suspect that the character may soon return.
