Sofia Mattsson joined General Hospital as Sasha Gilmore in 2018. The character arrived in Port Charles pretending to be the long-lost daughter of Nina Reeves as part of a con orchestrated by Valentin Cassadine.
Six years after arriving in Port Charles, Sasha finally learned her true paternity. It was revealed in 2024 that she’s the daughter of Holly Sutton and Robert Scorpio.
Sasha recently left town after threats to her newborn daughter, Daisy. To the surprise of many fans, the exit was permanent after actress Sofia Mattsson left the show. The actress recently opened up about the decision to leave the role in the middle of a huge storyline and what she plans to do next.
Sasha Leaves Town, Seeks Protection From Unexpected Source
Sasha Gilmore gave birth to Michael Corinthos’ baby in June. She went into labor after intense questioning on the stand during Michael and Willow’s custody battle. Jason Morgan initially claimed to be the father to protect Michael’s secret one-night stand with Sasha. However, the truth came out in court.
Thanks to a bribe to the judge, Michael was granted custody. A devastated Willow became fixated on getting revenge. She began to stalk Sasha’s newborn baby. At this point, no one knows who was putting Daisy in danger.
Sasha assumed it was someone connected to Michael’s mob ties. She decided to leave town to protect her baby. Michael fully supported this decision, and Jason escorted Sasha out of town.
The pair arrived in France with the baby. When Sasha knocked on the door of a home, her father, Robert, answered. It may be the last time fans see Robert Scorpio after Tristan Rogers’ cancer diagnosis.

Viewers knew something big was going to happen in the Willow/Sasha/Michael storyline. Many thought that Willow would leave town, but it was Sasha who left after actress Sofia Mattsson chose to leave the show.
The news came as a shock to viewers, especially because Sasha was involved in a huge storyline. Sofia Mattsson spoke to TV Insider about her decision to leave the ABC soap opera.
A source for General Hospital told the outlet, “There was a good time in the storyline for Sofia to leave to pursue other opportunities in film and TV. But she is open for a return in the future.”
The actress reflected on her seven years as Sasha. I’m a bit of a romantic, so I’m particularly fond of all the love stories! I think her love with Brando [Corbin, played by late actor Johnny Wactor] was so beautiful and pure. And I really feel like Sasha and Michael [Corinthos] have a unique and strong love. I’ve gotten an overwhelmingly positive response to our chemistry since Rory [Gibson] took over the role. Who knows in the future? I’m rooting for Sasha and Michael to reunite one day,” she said.
The actress also shared a heartfelt message to fans of the soap. “You guys are the best! I’m in awe of your commitment, and I’m so honored to have gotten to experience your love and support firsthand.”
