Erin & Ben Napier Banned From Hosting ‘Home Town’ Spinoff
Erin and Ben Napier have one of HGTV’s most popular shows. The couple has been renovating homes on television for nearly ten years. But they’re banned from hosting a Home Town spinoff for a shocking reason. Keep reading to find out why.
Home Town Returns For Season 10
Erin and Ben Napier’s efforts to revitalize their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi, by renovating houses got the attention of HGTV. The home improvement network quickly gave the couple their own reality show. Home Town debuted in 2016.

The show returns in early 2026 with a brand-new season. Season 10 features 16 episodes of stunning home renovations. Home Town returns to HGTV on Sunday, January 4, 2026. The couple also hosts another show later this year, Home Town: Inn This Together. But they won’t be hosting the next season of Home Town Takeover. Erin and Ben Napier are banned from the job.
Home Town Takeover premiered on HGTV in 2021. In the first season, Ben and Erin Napier renovated homes in Wetumpka, Alabama, followed by Fort Morgan, Colorado, in Season 2. Season 3 took them to Sebring, Florida. But they won’t be back as hosts for Season 4.

Erin & Ben Napier Banned From Hosting Home Town Spinoff
The renovating couple recently spilled to CinemaBlend the surprising reason why they’re banned from hosting their spinoff. For the next season, Takeover leaves the United States to film in another country. Erin Napier came under fire earlier this year for her reaction to traveling outside the country. But that has nothing to do with why she’s banned from hosting the spinoff.
She explained to the outlet that the next season will be filmed in Canada, and the country has unique production rules. “Our production company is Canadian. The people who make our show, they’re passionate about this Canadian takeover. But, because we are Americans, we are not legally allowed to host the show. We can only be in it as, like, guest stars,” she said.
Her husband, Ben Napier, added, “Yeah, a Canadian broadcast show has to be hosted by Canadian talent.” According to CinemaBlend, the new rule was put into place in 2023 by Canada to uplift Canadian residents working in broadcasting.
Despite the ban, Erin Napier is looking forward to visiting The Great White North. She said she was “excited to go to Canada, because I’ve never been before.” The HGTV star added, “It would be magical, in the summer especially.”
While Erin and Ben Napier won’t be hosting the next season of Home Town Takeover, they know who is. “We know who it is, and I can say that we really like them It’s another husband and wife team,” Ben Napier said without giving away their names.
Fans of the couple are excited to see them back on TV in early 2026.
