This was the stabbings of both Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, who were recently found dead within their Brentwood home. As previously reported, their son Nick was arrested in connection with the case.
During her television appearance, Michelle Obama shared that she and her husband were meant to spend Sunday night with Rob and Michele. She shared, “We’ve known them for many, many years, and we were supposed to be seeing them that night – last night – and we got the news.”

The Former First Lady Also Took Time To Explain What Rob & Michele Were Like In Life
Michelle also took the time to defend the couple from detractors following the tragic news. She shared, “Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know.” Emphasizing their character, she continued, “They’re not deranged or crazed.”
“What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on… They’re the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about.”
This also comes out after Barack himself shared a message on X in tribute to Rob and Michele Reiner following the news. As previously reported, he shared, “Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele.”
“Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.”
