Dallas Tire Shop Employee Charged With Shooting Manager

A tire shop manager in Dallas tragically lost his life after he was shot by one of his employees. The incident has left the manager’s loved ones asking questions about what led to the incident. The suspect has also been arrested and identified. A few people who knew the victim have also spoken out about the incident.

The Manager Was Believed To Have Been Shot By A Tire Technician Working Under His Care

Dallas police have recently identified the victim of a recent, fatal shooting. Billy “BJ” Brightman had served as the manager of a Rent-A-Tire shop on Camp Wisdom Road.

According to investigators, Brightman was shot inside his business by one of his employees. Brightman was 42 years old at the time of his death.

A suspect in the case had also been identified as Marlon Lawrence. According to Fox 4, Lawrence, described as a 21-year-old, was said to have worked as a tire technician under Brightman.

The shop where the shooting occurred was closed this past Tuesday. A sign on the door read, “Sorry for the inconvenience. Our store is currently closed.”

According to police, nearby businesses had captured surveillance video of the shooting. An arrest affidavit claimed that Brightman was working at the front counter when Lawrence approached from behind. Brightman was then shot in the back and again in the face.

A Suspect Had Admitted To The Shooting During A Police Interview

Brightman was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A motive for the killing currently remains unknown.

Since the incident, Brightman’s family and friends have been left looking for answers. James Luck, a friend of Brightman’s for over 20 years, shared that he spoke with him early Monday morning. He later stopped by the shop. As he shared, “It had to be like 1:45, 1:50 when I started seeing the crime scene.”

Luck described Brightman as a devoted husband and father. He was said to be a kind man who protected those around him. Luck continued, “You could never picture that actually happening, not to BJ. He always told me, ‘Be safe out there.’ Thinking of him always saying that … It bothers me now.”

On social media, other figures appeared to share their condolences over the incident, including those who appeared to know Brightman. One commenter wrote, “RIP Billy. Sending love, hugs, condolences to his mother, Cynthia.”

According to police, Lawrence has admitted to the shooting while being interviewed at police headquarters. He was arrested and booked at the Dallas County jail. He is currently being held on a murder charge.
