Horrific California Mass Shooting At Child’s Birthday Party, 4 Dead

A child’s birthday party in California recently ended in tragedy. A shooting at the event led to the deaths of at least four people. In addition, at least ten other people were reportedly injured in the attack. Taking to social media, various public figures have also released statements over the tragedy.

The Shooting Took Place At A Banquet Hall Where A Family Was Celebrating

On Saturday, November 29, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office received reports that around fourteen people had been shot on Lucile Avenue in Stockton. The reports came in at around 6 PM local time.

The incident was said to have taken place at a banquet hall. A child’s birthday party was being celebrated at the time.

In a release shared on Facebook, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office shared that, of the 14 shot, at least four have lost their lives. The statement read, “This is a very active and ongoing investigation, and information remains limited.”

“Early indications suggest this may be a targeted incident, and investigators are exploring all possibilities. Detectives are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to this tragedy.”

The wounded victims were taken to local hospitals. As the statement read, “Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this senseless violence.”

At a press conference, SJCSO spokesperson Heather Brent shared that the victims’ ages ranged from juvenile to adult. At this time, the victims’ identities have not been released to the public.

Brent also shared, “Our number one priority right now is identifying the suspect in this incident.” A motive for the shooting has not been released at this time.

Both The Local Mayor & Vice Mayor Have Released Statements Over The Incident, Offering Their Prayers

Since the incident, various public figures have spoken out about what happened. Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi recently released a statement on Instagram: “As Mayor, I am ensuring every necessary resource is available and that our city supports this effort at every level.”

The statement continued, “Right now, our focus must remain on the victims, their families, and the safety of the community. Please keep the victims, their loved ones, and our first responders in your prayers.” She also shared that she would give updates when made available.

On Facebook, Vice Mayor Jason Lee also shared, “A birthday party should never be a place where families fear for their lives. Violence touched my life as a young person, and seeing our own children, parents, and neighbors go through this shakes me deeply.”

Lee, sharing that he would search for answers, continued, “Stockton is my home. These are our families. This is our community.” He added, “Tonight, I’m sending my thoughts, prayers, and love to the families who are hurting, to the children who witnessed this trauma, and to everyone across our city who feels this pain.”
