4 People Shot During North Carolina Christmas Tree Ceremony

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony in North Carolina, held in anticipation of the December holidays, took a devastating turn when it became the site of a shooting. Four people were shot during the incident. A local police chief has also recently issued a statement over what happened.

Police Have Identified Two Of Those Shot As Suspects In The Case

At least four people were injured in a shooting that took place during a North Carolina Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The incident took place on Friday, November 21.

Shooting reportedly started at around 7:30 PM local time on Union Street South in Concord at the City of Concord Tree Lighting Ceremony. Taking to social media, footage of people fleeing during the incident was shared on social media.

The Concord Police Department has also shared a release over the incident on Facebook. As the statement read, “Concord Police, Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS personnel were already at the event and responded immediately, providing medical aid and evacuating attendees.” The four victims were taken to a local hospital.

Of the four, three were in critical condition. Two of the victims were two also said to be two suspected shooters.

In a later update, it was shared that the shooting “was not a random act of violence directed at the public.” The statement continued, “The Concord Police Department investigation revealed the shooting was between two suspects who are known to each other. Police have accounted for all parties involved.”

According to the update, one of the suspected shooters was later identified as 18-year-old Nasir Bostic. He was reportedly one of those shot who was in critical condition.

Warrants have been issued for Bostic’s arrest. He is facing charges including assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting injury with intent to kill, and inciting a riot. According to the statement, “Bostic will be served upon his release from the hospital.”

A Third Suspect Was Also Identified By Police

The second suspect is a juvenile. Their identity has been withheld from the public due to North Carolina’s  juvenile privacy laws. They are also believed to be one of the three in critical condition. They are also facing similar charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and inciting a riot.

Police have also identified a third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Bostic. He was not injured in ths shooting and was apprehended after the incident. He has also been charged with accessory after the fact and inciting a riot.

At this time, police have not shared a motive for the shooting, though they are not considering other suspects pertaining to the incident. In a statement, CPD Chief Jimmy Hughes shared, “A night of celebration for our community was interrupted by senseless violence, affecting everyone who was there. Due to the quick actions of our downtown businesses, the public, first responders and law enforcement, we were able to quickly evacuate the area, prevent additional injuries and identify all suspects involved.”
