Reality Star Faces Murder Charges In Texas Fatal Family Shooting
Oninda Romelus, 31, called 911 in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 4. When the police arrived, they discovered four children shot. The crime allegedly happened inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Two of the children, identified by the local news as 13-year-old O’Karreo Covington and 3-year-old Amourra Chapell, died from their wounds. The other unnamed children, an 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, remain hospitalized in stable condition.

Oninda Romelus once appeared on a reality show to help determine the paternity of her oldest son, the one she shot and killed.
Her Paternity Court Appearance
Paternity Court was a reality TV show that aired in syndication and YouTube for seven seasons. It went off the air in 2021.
Oninda Romelus went on a show over a decade ago to find out who the father of her son was. She was reportedly dating two different men when the baby was conceived.

KHOU 11 shared more details about the episode. “Her partner Dewayne Seymore claimed she engaged sexually with another man, Jeremy Covington, at the same time she conceived O’Karreo, which Romelus admitted.”
Paternity Court found that neither man was the father of the baby, then 18 months old.
Harrowing Details Of Fatal Shooting
Oninda Romelus was charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the grim discovery.
Brazoria County deputies found all four children shot inside a vehicle with the suspect standing nearby. The 13-year-old boy died from a gunshot to the head in the front passenger seat. Amourra Chapell, 3, died in the backseat.
One of the surviving victims was shot in the side and the arm. The other child was shot in the arm. They’re both in the hospital recovering from their injuries.
The mother of the four children was incoherent when giving details of the shooting to the police. “Instead of them doing it to me, I’m gonna do it to them,” she told the police at one point.
Oninda Romelus claimed that her children were “with the devil” and that’s why she had to “kill them all.” She’s currently in jail on a $14 million bond.

The woman’s father spoke to the news and said the family is in complete shock. A police official said that Child Protective Services had been involved in at least one prior incident with Oninda Romelus and her children.
“Child Protective Services is investigating this case and making sure that the safety and well-being of the surviving children is our first priority,” the source added.
