The incident was then recorded on video. During the altercation, one of the teens could be heard saying, “Call the police!” The deputy could be heard replying, “I am the police!”

At one point, one of the teenagers pushed the deputy off another teen. The deputy could then be seen pointing his firearm at the teen, claiming he would shoot. During the video, another teen could also be heard screaming and calling for his mother.

The deputy was suspended without pay by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office since the incident, in an announcement made this past Monday. It was reported that he had also been stripped of his credentials, badge, and sheriff’s office-issued weapons and equipment. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has also reportedly been asked to investigate what happened for potential criminal violations.

As noted by WJCL 22, the BCSO later released a statement over the incident: “The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an Internal Affairs Investigation into an incident involving an off-duty deputy. On Sunday, September 28th, 2025, at approximately 6:47 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a disturbance in a community on Hilton Head. Upon the deputies’ arrival, it was learned that an off-duty deputy was involved in the incident in the neighborhood where he resides.”

The BCSO Asked For Information In A Statement Shared Following The Incident

As the statement continued, it was confirmed that the deputy was suspended without pay and had their credentials removed. It was confirmed that this was carried out by “a Command Staff member who responded to the scene.”

The BCSO called on people with information to contact them. The statement continued, “We would appreciate it if anyone has any information to provide, that they cooperate with both our agency and SLED if required during this investigation.” It was also noted, “At a future point in time, the deputy’s identity will be released.”

  1. History has always shown that mostly White Police officers and their departments have no respect! for the black teenager or black women as they do the Caucasian female or teenagers! They are taught to go in with all disrespect and force! But never in A Caucasian crowd! That so called peace officer already has A violent chip on his shoulder! And is ready to attack with violence! because in there minds blacks and people of color aren’t kids, teenagers, or female! Just A step to the next badge! And the excuse is! Black and Brown children and Women don’t deserve that kind of respect! Just hate!

    1. Everyone deserves Respect during interaction with any police for any reason and vice versus. Color does not classify a person or situation to be handled barbarically, without respect nor excessive force. No excuses ,tolerable, it’s bull crap when it is executed in this mannerism. Humanity has no color, just correct interactions!
