‘Bachelorette’ Upset Over Death Rumors ‘Thurston Officially Takes Her Last Breath’
Katie Thurston, of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette fame, has recently made headlines sharing updates following her recent breast cancer diagnosis. Since then, the star has found herself the subject of false death rumors on social media. Thurston herself has recently taken to social media to debunk these claims.
Katie Thurston Was Previously Diagnosed With Breast Cancer Back In February
Thurston, a Washington native, became known to audiences after appearing on Season 25 of The Bachelor. Ultimately, she finished in 11th place but became a fan favorite.
Later, Thurston starred in the seventeenth season of The Bachelorette. The series ended with her accepting a proposal from Blake Moynes, but the two ended their engagement in 2021. In 2025, she married Jeff Arcuri.

Recently, Thurston has also been opening up about her health, having been diagnosed with breast cancer back in February. In another recent update, she shared she is set to undergo a double mastectomy in November.
Thurston has also recently made an emotional admission during an Instagram Story, At the time, she shared that she had learned that she had been the subject of death rumors amid her cancer struggles.
As noted by People, in a video, Thurston shared, “I literally wanted to take time away from social media, but then I was getting texts from people I don’t normally hear from, and then I got DMs from people, and everyone’s like, ‘Are you okay?’”
The Bachelor Nation alum then shared screenshots of social media claiming that she had died. One post claimed, “Thurston has officially taken her last breath.”

Thurston Later Poked Fun At The Situation In A Follow-Up Post, Complete With An Angel Filter
In the video, Thurston shared, “I’ve seen this article go around before, but something about tonight really f—— pisses me off. It’s triggering, and I try to report it. There’s just nothing I can do. I just feel helpless. I’m just so mad, so mad right now.” She also called on people who work at Facebook to tell her what to do to combat the rumors.
In a follow-up video, Thurston tried to have a sense of humor over the situation, appearing with an angel’s halo and wings. Joking that she was appearing from “the other side,” she wanted to thank Facebook for letting her friends and family, and herself included, for letting her know that she passed on.

Poking fun at the clickbait headlines, Thurston wrote in a caption, “BREAKING NEWS! Did you know funeral homes will add steep markups to the cost of caskets? That’s why I want to shoutout @titancasket for coming up with a solution to help save money during your time of mourning.”
