Bachelorette star Katie Thurston has been bravely fighting Stage 4 breast cancer. She was diagnosed in February after finding a lump in her breast. Her treatment was delayed slightly after a shocking misdiagnosis. The cancer team in California diagnosed her as Stage 3. But she moved to NYC shortly after the diagnosis to be with her now-husband, Jeff Arcuri.

After moving to NYC, Katie Thurston sought out a new local team of doctors. Her new cancer team redid the tests before starting treatment. They discovered that the cancer was Stage 4 but not as aggressive as previously thought. Instead of chemotherapy, they started the Bachelorette star on oral medication.

In her newest update, Katie Thurston talked about possible radiation treatments in the future.

Katie Thurston Schedules Double Mastectomy Surgery

Many women with breast cancer are advised to surgically remove one or both breasts. It’s a common procedure for women who don’t have breast cancer but have a family history. Removing the breast or both breasts can help prevent the cancer from spreading.

Katie Thurston shared early on in her cancer journey that she would take the advice from her doctors and have a double mastectomy. While an important step, it wasn’t her main focus. The Bachelorette star was focused on scans in July that would reveal if the medication she’s on is working or not. She shared with her followers that the medication is working and the tumors have shrunk.

The former reality TV star keeps fans updated on her cancer journey with the Boobie Broadcast Instagram channel she created. She also posts on her main Instagram feed. In one recent Instagram update, she revealed that she would go under the knife later this year or early next year for the breast removal surgery.

She shared a new update that the DMX surgery, as it’s sometimes called, was scheduled for November 2025.

Bachelorette Star Talks Radiation In New Cancer Update

The update she shared wasn’t about the double mastectomy. She mentioned it in passing when considering what questions to ask her oncologist during the next visit.

Among the questions she was considering was whether she could reduce the Kisqali dosage from 600mg to 400mb. The Kisqali is one of the pills she takes to treat the cancer.

Katie Thurston also wondered if she could try ADHD medication to help deal with the side effects of cancer treatment. She previously revealed that she went on an antidepressant to help ease the side effects of forced menopause.

One of her treatments is a hormone-blocking injection that put her in medical menopause.

The final question she wanted to ask her doctor was if she would need radiation after the double mastectomy. Or if removing her breasts would make radiation unnecessary.

Whatever answer her doctor gives her, Katie Thurston is determined to win her battle against cancer, even if the battle never ends.
