HGTV Is Officially Going Out Of Business?
Is HGTV officially going out of business amid many popular series cancellations? Viewers and fans of the home renovation network cannot help but wonder what is really going on. So, is the network nearing the end? Keep reading for more details.
HGTV Officially Going Out Of Business?
Over the last few months, HGTV has drastically changed the way it does things. There have been shows replaced with movies, and a plethora of cancellations. Bargain Block was axed after four seasons, and host Keith Bynum has been outspoken about the treatment. Admittedly, reality television can be a fickle game, but he has not been happy with how things went down. Many fans were devastated to learn the series would not be returning, as it was a humble show. Along with BB, other shows are down the drain, such as Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fixer, and Izzy Does It.

Then, the ever-popular El Moussa/Haack trio has also been left out in the cold amid cancellations. This means that Christina on the Coast and Flipping El Moussas are no longer. With all of this going down, fans are curious if this is a sign that the network is on its way out. One follower stated that so much has been dropped from HGTV; the next step has to be selling the network off. They added:
- My guess is the channel will be sold off in the acquisition. And the channel will go under
Now, this may just be a way to bring in new and fresh programming for a different generation of viewers. However, the network has built its brand on various renovations and home makeovers, why cancel its bread and butter?

Other network fans had their own ideas of what would happen, and it is all in the same boat. They see HGTV airing reruns until eventually the network is put to rest. Of course, some hopefuls believe that the classic formula of husband and wife duos taking on challenges will never go out of style.
Is It Really Over?
As to what will happen to the loyal HGTV fanbase amid all of these cancellations is up in the air. They will have to bring on some incredible programming to keep people tuned in. Yet, there is still the lingering idea that the network is holding on for dear life:
- I was shocked to see that they also canceled Christina and Tarek’s shows
- Well they’re out of business in my house right now. I started watching them to see home improvement / gardening shows. Cancelling shows like they did (including one that got a Emmy nod) to pivot to fake contest shows like Rock the Block and drama/celebrity shows lost me. Good luck with that crap.
Some have shared that they are downgrading their cable and streaming packages as they no longer need or want HGTV. If that continues to happen, there is no way they can stay afloat.
