Erin & Ben Napier Pitch Next Series Despite HGTV Cancellations
HGTV has seen quite the shakeup with a few of their shows getting cancelled. However, Ben and Erin Napier of Home Town fame have remained hopeful in spite of these shows ending. In fact, they’ve already cooked up a pitch for their next possible series.
Erin & Ben Shared Their Pitch For A New HGTV Show On Social Media
Many fans were introduced to Ben and Erin through the HGTV series, Home Town, which premiered back in 2016. The home renovation series has also seen a few spin-offs, such as Home Town Takeover.
Even with a few popular shows under their belt, Ben and Erin have recently teased their idea for their next series. Both Ben and Erin shared the idea with fans in a recent video posted to social media.

On Instagram, Erin shared the idea while she was working. As she noted, “I am at work, it’s demo day, and it is so, so hot and so sweaty.”
It was at this point a new idea came to the HGTV star. Erin continued, “And I was thinking how fun it would be if we also made a show where Ben and I sit in a dark movie theater like Mystery Science Theater [3000].” Ben came into the frame and shared, “But instead of sci-fi movies, we watch old Nancy Meyers movies, like [The] Parent Trap.”
This possible show wouldn’t be too detached from the couple’s home renovation shows. It was explained that the show would see the couple talk “about the houses and the set design and why these characters live in these rooms and these houses and what it says about the character.”
Erin noted that the couple was already fond of analyzing movie homes. In fact, Ben even credited their interest in fictional homes as “the reason that Home Town exists.”
Fans Shared A Few Fictional Homes They’d Like To See In Such A Show
Ben then teased the video could serve as a form of “crowd-sourcing.” Meanwhile, Erin asked, “Don’t you think we should pitch that?”
Elsewhere in the video, Erin asked fans, “Now, what if we just made a show about it that you could watch?” In a caption, she also wrote, “Just saying, I would watch this all day every day @hgtv @wbd.”

With Erin and Ben’s recent video, fans shared their own reactions to the idea. Many seemed supportive of the idea, sharing that they would watch it. A few even had some suggestions of which fictional shows could be focused on. Some comments included:
- “YES! Some of my fave re-watch movies are because of the set design of homes. You’ve Got Mail – that brownstone apartment that Kathleen Kelly lives in.”
- “The houses on Summer Magic and Mr. Blandings builds his dream house as well.”
- “YES, PLEASE. And if you do make this a series, I’m putting my request in for a coastal house from the 1995 movie, Sabrina, with Harrison Ford. Mr Ford’s character in the movie, Linus Larrabee, owns a summer home in Martha’s Vineyard.”
- “The big, old house in the original Yours, Mine and Ours movie with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Also, the home of George and Mary Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life and John Wayne’s ranch home in McLintock!“
HGTV Has Seen The End Of Quite A Few Shows As Of Late
However, this comes out during a shocking time for the network. Recently, HGTV fans have seen the network say goodbye to quite a few of its shows.
Reportedly, these cancellations have even proved to be a surprise to some of the network’s stars. A few of these stars have even taken to social media to confirm these shows ending.
