The Young & The Restless Fans Recently Saw A Mysterious Figure Unmasked As Cane
The past few months on The Young and the Restless have seen Genoa City haunted by a mysterious figure, Aristotle Dumas. Characters and audiences alike saw Dumas manipulate things from behind the scenes, all unseen.
During a party in France, Dumas was revealed to be Cane Ashby. Billy Flynn of Days of Our Lives fame stepped into the role, which was previously played by Daniel Goddard.
With the character’s return, even with a recast, fans are wondering what’s next for the character. In particular, some are wondering what’s next for the character’s love life.
After all, Cane has already been part of a number of love stories on the soap. As fans know, Cane was married to Lily Winters, even having two children together, Charlie and Mattie Ashby.
Some Fans Suspected A Love Triangle Might Be In Cane’s Future
The couple went through their ups and downs over the years, even going through periods of divorce and remarriage. During the episode airing June 20, 2025, viewers even saw “Dumas” reveal himself as Cane to Lily.
Since then, fans have been debating the idea of Cane and Lily reconciling and restarting their previous relationship. Taking to social media, one fan wrote that Lily made the most sense as Cane’s next love interest. As they wrote, “Clearly, they have a lot to catch up about. And competition for what I assume is a Damian-Lily thing coming this summer.”

Other fans weighed in on the issue. Some agreed that Lily made the most sense, while others had different suggestions. A few even thought a love triangle could in the making. Others thought it was too early to involve Cane with new love stories as he just came back. Some comments included:
