Fans Wonder Why Anne Burrell Wasn’t On ‘Worst Cooks’ Before Death
Food Network personality and star Anne Burrell was tragically pronounced dead after recently being found unconscious in her New York home. Since the news has come out, fans have been asking questions about the star. In particular, many are wondering why she wasn’t appearing on the show, Worst Cooks in America, months prior to her passing. Recently, statements Burrell herself made about the show have also come to light. This also comes out as more information has been shared about her tragic passing.
Anne Burrell Was Part Of Worst Cooks In America From 2010 To 2024
Burrell was a prominent Food Network personality. She served as the host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-hosted Worst Cooks in America. She was also a contestant on various cooking competition shows, including Chopped All-Stars Tournament.
Tragically, Burrell was recently found unconscious in her Brooklyn home on June 17, 2025. Emergency responders at the scene pronounced her dead, She was 55 at the time of her passing.
Since the news of her passing, fans have been asking questions about the Food Network star. In particular, many fans have been wondering why she didn’t appear on Worst Cooks in America months before her death.
During the celebrity edition of the competition series, chefs Jeff Mauro and Antonia Lofaso led the series. Burrell has been part of the long-running series since its first 27 seasons, being part of the show from 2010 to 2024.
According to Page Six, Burrell did not give an explanation for her absence during the show’s 28th season. At this time, the Food Network also hasn’t publicly explained Burrell’s absence, either.
Back in January, fans had turned to Burrell’s Instagram account to ask why she hadn’t returned to the show. At the time, Burrell herself did answer a few fan questions.
When one fan asked, “Why aren’t you in Worst Cooks? It’s not the same,” Burrell responded, “Honestly I don’t know.” Similarly, when another fan asked, “Hi Anne, [are you] still with Food Network?? [You are] missed very much,” she assured fans, “I miss you guys!!!”
While she wasn’t appearing on the recent season, Burrell expressed hope that she would eventually make her return to the show. One fan asked her if she could “come back next season,” Burrell responded, “I will SO try.”
Both Food Network & The Star’s Family Have Also Recently Issued Statements Concerning The Tragic News
More details have also come out concerning Burrell’s passing. As the publication noted, an investigation concerning Burrell’s death is currently in progress. At this time, her cause of death hasn’t been revealed. According to a New York Police Department spokesperson, Burrell was found unconscious around 7:50 AM.
In a statement, Burrell’s family also shared, “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered.” The statement continued, “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
Food Network also shared a statement concerning the star’s passing. As the network shared, “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent – teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”
