Angela Bassett Talks Crossovers With ‘9-1-1: Nashville’

Angela Bassett is not only one of the main stars of 9-1-1 but also a producer for both the original series and the upcoming spinoff series, 9-1-1: Nashville. While the main series has not received a renewal for Season 9, Bassett is talking about possible crossovers with the new upcoming series.
Here is what Bassett says about the new Nashville series crossing over with its parent series in the future.
Will 9-1-1: Nashville Crossover With The Main Series?
Of course, 9-1-1: Nashville isn’t the first spinoff series, as 9-1-1: Lone Star was an incredibly popular show that just ended. However, there were rarely any crossovers between the two shows, with most nopt happening until the later seasons.
Unlike the One Chicago shows, which have all three in the same city, the two 9-1-1 shows were in different states, over a thousand miles apart. Nashville is even further away from Los Angeles, at just over 2,000 miles. However, Angela Bassett hopes for a crossover between the two shows.
“We have to see how we do this interstate, how are we gonna play this, what business I have over there?” Bassett said (via TV Insider). “But we’ll see if the FBI comes into play, if somebody runs from California to Nashville or vice versa, but yeah, you definitely could have some crossover action going on.”
This sounds like a logistical headache, but there are ways it could happen. Ultimately, TV shows can do anything if they have the finances and the scheduling works out between the two shows. This does come after Bassett, Don Johnson, and Joshua Jackson teased the 9-1-1 crossover with Doctor Odyssey.
In this case, Bassett’s Athena is on a cruise and is forced into action when there is a call to duty on the ship.
9-1-1: Lone Star Almost Had Two More Crossovers Before It Ended
Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani had two ideas to cross his show over with 9-1-1. These ideas could show some ways that 9-1-1: Nashville could make it work if the producers deemed it necessary.
Raisani said that one idea involved a Los Angeles emergency where the 126 from Austin could show up to help support the emergency efforts. This makes sense because the Los Angeles team came to Austin to help during a major disaster. However, he also had a fun idea he never got to do.
“There’s this thing called the International Firefighting Games where firefighters from all over the world send their best to do almost like an Olympics or a Squid Games, whatever you want to call it, of firefighting competitions,” Raisani said. “I always thought it would’ve been really fun to send some of the 126 and have them meet up with some of the 118 from L.A. and then have a real emergency happen while they were doing that fun thing and see them all work together.”
